I have had my scripts store since late January and at first I was getting around 4 sales a week. Then about a month after the sales started they just sort of stopped all to getter. I have tried advertising with clicksor.com, bidvertiser.com, and Google Adwords but they haven't refered a single sale. I redesigned the product pages and lowered all prices by $5 and I am still getting a sale a month if I am lucky. My stats say that my bounce rate is 66%. Could someone give me an insight on what I might be doing wrong and how I can better my sales. Please don't say join a CPA network because I don't have the money to do that. I am also starting a affiliate program for my site soon with insane features like 30% commission and people refered from your affiliate link are active referals for 48 hours. I am hoping that will bring in some sales. I am at a major loss of ideas right now. Please help. Here is my site. cgiwebtools.com
Have you thought about advertising on hotscripts.com? It is fairly expensive, but if you have some unique scripts (unique being the key) then you should do quite well. Everyone who visits hotscripts looking has a good chance at purchasing. I recieve about 30% of my traffic from there.
I assume it's the cgi scripts site in your sig. You've confused 'there' and 'their' at least four times, I know it's a small point, but it makes a bad impression, it looks unprofessional.
You talk about sales dropping off but do not say whether your traffic has remained the same or dropped off at the same time? In other words, is it traffic or conversion that's the problem?
Well I was getting around 20 uniques a day from hotscripts and 30 from cgi.resourceindex.com and I get that same amount from them per month now. They were my only source of traffic. Now I receive around 20-50 uniques a day total. But with total traffic about the same I don't see why sales would go down so much. I have my scripts submitted to around 20 script directories.
So it's loss of traffic that has led to loss of sales - so hopefully you should still be able to convert as well as you did once the traffic returns. How do you get found on those 2 sites?
Make sure that you are using the tracking/analytics service Google provides to better understand how people are navigating your site. It's very important so that you can see where you are getting: 1. quality traffic 2. pre-qualifying with very specific ad copy 3. measuring the retention and conversion (time on site, # page views) 4. understand back in time where your sales come from
The amount of traffic did not drop that much. When I was getting sales I got about 30-50 uniques a day. Now l get about 20-50. So the traffic is just about the same. I do use Google Analytics.
One problem may be that most of your scripts can be found for free on the internet. This doesn't explain why sales suddenly dropped off unless the free versions were released recently but may explain the general lack of sales.
How about some reviews by previous buyers to instill confidence. Also, have a demo site or highlight the features of your scripts vs the free ones to show how yours is a better value. Lastly, are you active on whatever script or other related forums? Just some thoughts off the top of my head.
