Well I have looked at the posts on this thread and most posts agree that Aviva Directory is a well managed and promoted Directory. And most comments point to the SE's being fickle and variable in the results that they index and when they do index eventually they do not index to a set timeline Time to move on about this SE generality because irrespective of this point Aviva Directory will beome even more mature and valuable as a directory in the future. Maybe it will even dislodge some of the so called 'untouchables' when it gets to PR 9
Does anyone else not see that those are *old* entries for which Yahoo! has not seemed to update. Jeff, give Yahoo somemore info regarding the urls that are currently indexed for Aviva. http://www.avivadirectory.com/dir/33/Games/ <---not your current structure but what appears to be a past tensed directory script and structure http://www.avivadirectory.com/Games/ <-- current structure. Both lead to same place. So in all.... (i only looked at this for about 2 minutes so...) I believe this is a case in which Yahoo may be having a hard time understanding the redirection methods in use and what appears to have been put in place, so as to not lose the valued integrity of the diretory and it's structure from the previously used script. Yea, Something is going on...if you're not indexed in Yahoo yet, than something is definitely wrong....so you might want to investigate a little because I seriously doubt Yahoo is ever gonna get around if they haven't already with your backlinks and PR.
Yahoo WILL eventually get around, and Jeff already stated that he has sent word to them with expressed concerns. And just for the record, I was indexed in Google and MSN BEFORE Yahoo. And I was sandboxed in Google for almost 6 months to boot. Relax and take a pill, son.
Hey Anon, I know that Google does tend to crawl deeper than Yahoo on average, but for a site like Aviva, which is only a couple pages deep, and with it's amount of inbound links...there is no way Yahoo shouldn't have picked up the site yet, UNLESS there has been recent changes made to the site. Easy big fellow...I'm just trying to point something out...that might actually help him improve his site. Yahoo is the SE we shoot for #1...and seeing as how I can't find any backlinks coming from Aviva in this SE...I think that's more than worthy of a mention and a thread to discuss. Can you find backlinks coming from Aviva in the Yahoo SERPs?
All I care about is google backlinks. And although I do not think that avivia is the most powerful directory on the net, I must give credit were credit is due, I can honestly say that from a google stand point this is a solid directory. Don't waste your time checking yahoo for backlinks, msn is by far the better the choice. The reason I say this this is because msn will show all the powerful links pointing to that site and will not flood you with sitewide backlinks which is what yahoo likes to do. Therefore stick to msn and google when checking backlinks, you will get more accurate results.
I'm always easy. And reread my post, as i gave mention that Yahoo was LAST to index my site, even after I came out of a six month sandbox ala Gaygle. So... If you had such a major conern about it and for Jeff, there is a system that has been put into place and it's often refered to as a PM for short or Private Message for long. But that wasnt your intention, which is blatantly obvious, and anyone can read/see, so your self-preservation type of posting is moot at this point.
Google's backlink results have been crap at best for quite some time - only a portion of the backlinks are ever listed.
I must agree with robb that lately people have been posting really wierd or stupid posts concerning AVIVA. I see this just like the rest....Irrelevent as you have not shown any proof of anything. Recheck your info before posting thx malcolm
It pays for links for pr., but it looks like a decent directory...Before buying or submitting a link its always good to check keywords web directory/ free web directory/ local directory/ regional directory/ local and regional directory/theres certain key words that show where the big directories are hanging out... Add key words to directory than try different searches, and thats how to find sites that will not only push you to the top, but will also get you good traffic...The definition of pr without serp position is a desprit car sales man trying to get a pay check..
