Why doesn't Yahoo Googlize?

Why doesn't Yahoo strip down their homepage and Googlize? They're an eyesore. They're ugly as sin. Their marketshare would undoubtedly increase in search engine only.

You mean why doesn't Microsoft strip down Yahoo and make it more like Google?

They changed their home page look on July 21st of this year. It is pretty similar to google. Both are full of my personalized stuff. I'm guessing you mean the SERPs is the look you want changed?

Yahoo's design suits the purpose of a portal. On the other side Google primary goal is to be a search engine. Even after the acquisition from Microsoft Yahoo continues to hold it's original layout.

I don't think they look alike with iGoogle page.

Yahoo makes it look like a portal, crammed with information that will load the entire stuff when people just visit the page to search. But people using modern browsers like firefox and IE will just use their browsers inbuilt search bar. Thus bypassing viewing yahoo's home page. From the time google made available their search using opensearch description format in the firefox address bar I havent visited google's home page to search, like I was doing before.

Yahoo is what it always was - a portal... They've also focused much more on their messenger, email and now they are really hooking the developers with their api's and such... - - They are getting ready to launch a new homepage with a stripped down design for a more "whitespace" approach... we'll see...

Yahoo has its own personality. If it will have been googlized, it definitely lost it originality. so yahoo should be always yahoo.

"On July 29, 2009, it was announced with a 10 year deal that Microsoft will have full access to Yahoo search engine to be used in Microsoft future projects for its search engine Bing"

It was a long process for Yahoo to get down to this.

If you want to search, use Google. If you're looking for updates on international events, news, or anything in relation, then use Yahoo.
