Why doesn't Microsoft buy a short domain name for a new search engine?

    They have some of the shortest domains you can get. They own MSN and LIVE so they have to searches and they own Hotmail for emails.

    live.com and msn.com is really short enough, they need to consider branding too. They can't change horses half way, it will be very bad for branding.

    Maybe Microsoft will buy Cuil.com after this search engine will prove it's actually working. Until now didn't convince me.

    I doubt it very much, problem now with Microsoft is not the lack of technology, it is the lack of the ability to consolidate all its technical expertize and marketing to fight Google. Technology wise I don't think Microsoft is inferior to Google, just that Google is extremely nimble and move too fast for Microsoft to catch up. What Microsoft needs is not another new set of technology but a chance of mindset.

    Instead of starting new search engine, they should focus on Live.com ..........Make it better. I have heard Bill Gates saying "some brilliant engineers are working on Live.com "

    anyway they already have live.com which is good enough also.

    I give Microsoft good luck to defeat Google , which can be done but with lots of hard work and sacrifice.

    They have START.COM as well... It was a new portal....under the MS brand.. but with the launch of Windows Live Brand.. they closed the start.com and now its redirecting to Live.com personalized page...
