My colleague and I re-designed our companies web site 13 weeks ago and optimized for certain keywords - some competitive, some not so. We are now strongly placed on all Google powered SERP's - 1st page, there or there abouts - but not so on Yahoo or Altavista. Four weeks after optimization we saw a jump of ~50 places to 48 and have held this position ever since. I wonder if anyone could take a look at our site? Any help as to what we may be doing wrong, with regards to Yahoo optimization, would be appreciated. Our site: www.qtac.co.uk I realize that Google gets more traffic than Yahoo and really I shouldn't be complaining. But we want to have significant presence on all SERP's - if we don't see any progress in the next few months we may have to test out the pay-per-click option. Many Thanks, Lee.
Hello Qtac, Why don't you add your site details to your profile or put the url in your post, so user's can find your site. Then they may be able to advise you on why your site is not doing so well in Yahoo.
If you are going to optimize your site for Y, then you have got to keep in mind; - that Y *loves* the presence of your target keyword(s) in the title of your site page - plus a little keyword stuffing - as well as backlinks regardless of their relevance.
Sorry, I can't put the link in the post as am only a newbie. But here's the URL: http://www.qtac.co.uk Any comments on our site would be appreciated.
The density of our targetted keyphrase is around 11% throughout the index page. Do you think Yahoo would look at that unfavourably??? Where would you say that the line is drawn between a good keyword rich site and just plain keyword stuffing?
I use the "play it safe" rule. Write your content for a viewer and not a spider. Put your keywords in the title tag, H1, H2, H3 tag once. Don't stuff alt attributes or your content. This seems to have payed off for me.
