Why does this site rank where it does?

Sorry to rip the title stright off the forum description :)

But i really carnt understand this...

I've worked for ages on my website (www.itsall3.com)

Spent the time getting a site/layout i like, added content, submitted to directories, done some link exchanges, basicly everything i can think of to get my site up and going... Its currently only a PR2 (-- i read somewhere on here, that as long as your site has links back to it, it'll get a PR3 stright away)

Anyway... I started another website, www.uk-paragliding.com <-- i used the same code and layout from my main website, wrote a few articles (didnt submit them anywhere, just on the site), i've done no advertising, no directory listing, it took me a weekend to get it to where it is now.

Why does this weekend website get a PR3 over the one i've spent all my time working on!?!

I know a PR3 isnt anything to write home about, but when I’ve spent all that time adding content, advertising, submitting for my main site, and this one I did over a weekend gets a better PR, it just doing my head in :(

Can anyone see any real reason why my site dosnt deserve the higher page rank? am i braking some rules somewhere or somthing?

Any info would be very helpful. :)

    Regards.

Hi, You need to learn more about SEO. Think PR of the pages linking to your site. Think number of outbound links on that page you are sharing pagerank with (if you dont believe me look at pagerank algorithym). Your paragliding site has a backlink from a free subit site with a PR3 and few other outgoings. Thats enough to do it. Links to your other site are low grade.

Your site content fits my new directory with PR5 and only 2 outgoing links so far on the homepage.

    Cheers Steve.

I've submited to your directory (thanks)

So, what would you recommend? Buying some high PR links?
Or waiting for the next PR update to see how its going? Will all my low quality backlinks bring my site PR down then?

    Regards.

Posting here is helping you. No low quality backlinks will not bring your site PR down.

Get medium to high PR links on pages which are content relevant to you site and dont have tonnes of other external links out.

What category did you apply to?
