Why does this happen?

While using the keyword tracker, one of my keywords went in Google from #6 to -9,993.

What position do you think it should be at when you look at Google manually?

6 or 7, depending on the data center. It is there every time I check!

Thanks for looking into this Shawn!

Looks like it's just data center flux to me. When I add it to my account, it shows as #35.

I consistantly have issues where anywhere from 3 to 20 KWP don't track. I go back and click on them to get them to go through. Sometimes one will return an error and I will ignore that one for the day, since it works the next day and it will be a different KWP that won't go through.

Shawn - I will give you my username / password if you want to see what I mean someday - my thought is my server blocks the attempts after a certain time - maybe it thinks it is a ddos type of attack?? I don't know - I am clueless in that area.

Not sure... but it's a possibility I suppose (if your server is setup to try and block DoS attacks) since the keyword tracker is going to make a bunch of requests to your PHP file (one for each keyword).

Works for me... although Google has it at #13 for me. Probably just data center flux.

Just want to drop in that I too have this problem. Here's the specifics (copied from the chart):

    beginners guide to CSS | friendlybit.com | Google | N/A | -9,938
    "web development blog" | friendlybit.com | Yahoo | 28 | 9,971

Edit: Just to make it clear. The problem is not the ranking, that works fine, it's the daily and weekly change that is broken. Today after updating the bad values propagated to weekly change. This really makes the tracker a lot less usefull.
