This thread here: http://forums.digitalpoint.com/showthread.php?t=1081541&page=1 Is the "Nutty Professor" selling a ripped version of my website!! How can a person keep doing that? He has already been notified by a previous buyer who had to purchase a new site and now a second person is having the same issue from this seller? Buyer beware! Very frustrating to see my time and effort into building a nice website just get stolen and sold for $50. My website: www.HostQuack.com -- Cameron
I see he is banned Anyway, how that happened? I would get crazy instantly if something like this would happen to me
Hello, He must have just used a ripping program. Stealing a site really isnt that difficult but I can't believe he was selling it and then claiming that he sold it to me! Anyways, yes I am very angry about this. I spent an amazing amount of time designing this site on paper and coming up with ideas with my web developer. Very aggravating to see someone just steal it and sell it for $50. -- Cameron
Next time you see something like this, be very aggressive in pursuing it. Send DMCA takedown notices to anyone using the site, and contact domain name registrars and hosting companies as well. If you can get good contact information for the perpetrator, let him/her know that you have no problem pursuing the matter in court. You can also contact Google and ask to get infringing sites and related sites operated by the infringer removed from their index. Be creative!
Where do you know from that he used a ripping software? maybe he designed it in photoshop but following exactly your design, sometime I known an online infraction report feature in the USA but I cannot remember it now, search in this forum it was posted ! Fill a complain there ! If he used a ripping software that's copyright infrigiment am I right?
I am not sure if thats what he did or not. It was just an idea of one way he could have gotten it. He managed to take every image from my site and used the file structure etc so that is what made me think it was ripped. -- Cameron
Thank you for your tips. I have been taking screen shots of everything regarding the perpetrators site including pages of the site, registrar information, host information, IP's, contact info, etc etc. I have tried to be firm but reasonable so they don't think I am crazy and just ignore future contact. I would prefer cooperation rather than battling it out but I will do what is neccessary. -- Cameron
By the time you go to court it will take a considerable amount of time and money. is it worth it? if it is then do it.
You can go to a local attorney and have them write a letter for you regarding this issue explaining that you are serious about pursuing this matter. Nothing more, nothing less. It usually cost about $50 bucks. Believe me, when someone receives a letter from an attorney, they tend to take you more seriously. RobinR
Looks to me like your ATTORNEY is not doing his job. You need to FIRE him and hire one who will work for you.
