Provide different results? When searching for Gears of War Glitches on Google.ca, my site is the second result: http://www.google.ca/search?hl=en&q=gears of war glitches&meta= However, using Google.com my site is result number Twelve. Why do the results vary so much when you use Google .com compared to another Google Address?
well maybe because in Google.com there are more sites with Gears of War Glitches, whereas if you use google.ca you have narrowed down to just canadian sites?
Google is interested in providing search results with a local flavor depending on the country from where you search and hence the variation...
Hmmm, this sounds funny, but if I added the text United States somewhere in the page do you think it would rank better. I guess what I am wondering, is how I can make a page more appealing to Google.com, and why it ranks so much better on Google.ca than Google.com. Oh well, I guess I'll just continue promoting until I'm number one on both Googles.
look which country u targeting and get back links frm that country hosted/ranked sites that way u'll good ranking.
Google consider few things for deciding about geographical location of sites. There is a option in webmaster tools to set geographical location. Your site's IP counts. The extension of your site. etc May be you have a Canadian based host?
Result is as per local popularity, local search volume, local visitors and finally local popularity vs Global popularity.
Ranking in local Google is based on many factors, like your own website IP address and the hosting server location as well as other websites linking to your website from that country TLD extension... Hope to see your website ranking #1 in both Google.com and the local one
You can do geotargeting through Google webmaster tools. Log into webmaster tools->website profile->tools->geotargeting (I guess that's the correct path). In it you can specify which country your page is most relevant to. Your pages will be ranked higher for that country.
