Why does screen size testers not work on my PC anymore?

I'm a web designer, and I always used screen size testers like: http://www.anybrowser.com/ScreenSizeTest... to make sure the websites looks fine on all screen resolutions.

I have an 800x600 screen, and I was always able to to check what it looks like in a 1024x768 screen through the screen size tester. It opened a bigger window (wich obviously didn't fit on my screen), which allowed me to see it.

A few days ago when I wanted to use it again, it didn't work. It still works with smaller screen resolutions like 544x384 but not with bigger resolutions than my 800x600.

I tried different testers and in different browsers. It doesn't work anymore at all. Once I select the screen size it immediately resize itself back to it's default size. I even downloaded the firefox plugin, but that also doesn't work.

Is there some settings on my pc or so something that I can set so it works again? Or is there another way to test my sites?

I can not tell you why you are not able to test your sites with the Tester you are using. But, I can tell you a better way to test your websites in all resolutions. I would suggest you to use Firefox for this purpose. There is a very good Firefox extension which could help you with every aspect of web design. It is called "Web Developer Toolbar".

I am also a web designer and have been using this extension for years. You will find it on Firefox extensions website in most downloaded extensions. With this extension I resize my browser to any desired resolution and see how it looks.

    Thanks buzzmaker.

I downloaded it and installed it. This is the second firefox addon I installed and neither worked. It has got to be settings on my pc I suppose, which tells the window to stay with it's real size.

Tell me, are you able to view a website in a bigger screen resolution than the resolution of your screen or only in a smaller resolution? If so, I don't know why mine doesn't work. It used to.

I don't suppose you can just resize your screen to test?
