i, would never suspend an account withouth sending a notice, or even 2 notice, that is for bandwidth consumption.

For not paying the account, I believe an invoice on due date serves as a notice, then one more.

You'll have no choice to suspend an account without an notification if someone's account is bringing the server to its knees.

If its for a non-payed bill or whatever then yes a notification of suspension should be sent. In saying that, our customers go nuts when we send these notifications so its a no win situation half the times.

login have you been suspended without notification?

Thats obvious, but I have been suspended for various reasons at hostgator and many other hosts without being given a notice. Sometimes for bandwith, sometimes for misunderstandings, sometimes my own fault. But as a rule hostgator or other hosts do not inform you what ever reason there is so your site can be down for days.

if you are killing the server then your account could be suspended but still without a notice is not the way to go, even after suspending they can send a simple notification atleast.

We're small enough to always send out an email when we suspend an account. But I can understand from larger hosting company's that they'd rather just have the client email them about it. We have emails get caught by junk mail so some suspension notices do not even get to the customer anyways.

I imagine what the larger ones do is suspend the account and leave a note as to why. So when the ticket is made the technician handling the ticket can see the reason why it was suspended. Saves them the time of sending out a lot of mail. When you've got 500,000 customers having a few complain is worth it compared to the time it would take to send out professional emails about why an account was suspended.

It would be very easy to automate the procedure of sending an email to the account email address when the account is suspended. Beside that, if you have 500,000 customers you should have the money to rent enough staff to do the necessary things also, thats no excuse for them at all.

It's pretty simple from a business standpoint.

The number of customers who complain about no notice are worth less than what it would cost in additional staff to deal with them.

If it was just a automatic notice send out they would need no extra staff for that. Like "You account is suspended". Thats all ask for, thats not to much to ask for.
