I just registered a domain yesterday at name cheap and am hosting it at bravehost. I then changed the name servers on namecheap for my domain to ns1.bravehost.com as they say. It says that it can take up to 72 hours to work however today when i type my site url in to browser my site shows up fine. But when I do it on another computer and type the url in it says it can't be found???? why is that? is it loading mine from cache or something? Will I just have to wait a couple more days for the dns propagation period to end? I have also tried different browsers and its the same thing.

Maybe it's your friends computer cache that's not resetting properly.

Have you tried in several computers or with your friend's computer only?

I have my computer and use mobile broadband and the site works on it. I just tried it with my girlfriends computer earlier and it didn't work however I went back to my house after lunch and then tried it on my house computer and it worked fine there for some reason. I went back to my girlfriends house and tried it again on her laptop and it still didnt work. I then connected my computer which it works on to her internet and it didn't work so it must be something to do with her ISP. HOWEVER the weird thing is on my house computer were it works fine uses the exact same ISP. So What is going on :S

It is due to the DNS propagation at your friend's ISP or local cache at your friend's computer. Try to clear DNS cache of your friend's computer.

No need to worry, over time it will clear... i also had the same issue... alternatively you can try browsing on private browsing with firefox, that way you will tell whether it is cached or just simply a problem with the changes you have made with your hosts.!

Another thought is use a free proxy, there are plenty of those around ( google is your friend )

Exactly right. DNS cycling throughout the entire world takes a bit of time (i.e. the 72 hours you were quoted), even though a lot of name server update themselves every hour. So, you may see your site on your computer quicker than on your friend's, and other times it might be the other way around. Depends on who your connection is through, how fast the DNS is updated, and whether the local cache on your machine sees the change.
