Why does my established website have no Page Rank?

Hi everyone. First of all, I am not a newbie in this area although I am not expert either but I don't understand why it is that one my websites has no page rank. I won't give the url but the site has been online (with inbound links) for about 6 months, has pages indexed in Google, is always in the top 1 to 5 spots for the targeted and popular keyword phrase and receives a good amount of traffic from Google's search engine because of the that phrase. So how is it that my website, or any other website in a similar position has no page rank?

I'm not complaining by no means, I'm just curious?

    Thanks to all replies

don't waste your time worrying about PR.

That's the best advice because all it does is waste your time the only thing that matters is your rank in the results :)

This true that page rank is not more important than search engine rank. But if you want to improve page rank of your site. Place your website link to the other High PR sites related to your theme. The high PR sites are able pass page rank. That will help increasing your website page rank. The links need to be do-follow. But improvements of page rank or serp depends on Google.

Your website will get a page rank in time, Most of the time all website PR change at one point. Google does a huge page rank up date every 2 months or so.

Look pagerank does not matter anymore, as long as you have a quality website and quality content your site will succeed.

Pagerank is only important to those that like selling links on their websites

PR is just a Ranking system provided by the Google. I am also wondered why all people going behind PR. There are many factors which determine our website is standard or not. PR is one among them. Don't waste time by doing things to increase Google PR.

I think this must be my proudest moment on DP... Usually people talk nothing but 'shit' on here, but I am very proud of all of you above who say PR is a waste of time... Thank god for common sense!!... OP anyone who tells you different is probably one of those 'SEO Experts'.....

2 months? It's never been that frequent. There was one in all of 2010. Six months is nothing. A lot of sites are in the same position after a year or more. The "real" pagerank that Google uses internally has some value, but the toolbar PR is outdate, misleading, stupid, and a disservice. A lot of pages will never get updated for no apparent reason.

I agree, don't waste your time. PR comes naturally and when you least expect it. Have had several sites online for awhile and still no PR but get quite a bit of traffic. Nobody knows except for Google of course so don't lose sleep over it.

Of course, you don't really know what the PR is now, only what it was a long time ago...

I have said this several times here in DP, but I will say it again: Pagerank is one of the 3-4 most important factors in Google (the other being title tag, link reputation and now also user behavior).

What most people don't realize is that there are 2 different kinds of Pagerank: (1) publicly visible PR and (2) actual PR.

    (1) The publicly visible PR is updated very infrequently and is often outdated by several months. Furthermore, it is broken down into 10 points on a logarithmic scale, which means that: (a) there is a big difference between low PRx and high PRx, and (b) it is several times more difficult to go from PRy from PRz than it was from PRx to PRy. Additionally, Google has been known to manipulate the publicly visible PR. For example, PR of sites that openly sell links is sometimes grayed out or decreased.

    (2) The actual PR is calculated by Google almost in real time compared to the public PR updates, and it is used by Google as an "entry ticket" into the main index (as opposed to the supplemental index). Once in the main index, other factors are used to determine the actual rankings. It is not in Google's interest to show you this actual PR. That's why you have the two PR. The closest you will ever get to knowing the actual PR is during the updates of the publicly visible PR. The last one happened in April 2011.

All of this, and especially the fact that the actual rankings often don't correspond to PR, contributes to the confusion among webmasters about PR and why many of them think PR is not important. In reality, nothing can be further from the truth.

    ----

    Now, to answer your question...

Your site DOES have Pagerank, but it hasn't jumped above the level of the publicly visible PR0 at the time of the last PR update. Your pages rank for your keywords because:

    1. They have enough of actual PR to get into the main index for your keywords.
    2. They are properly on-page optimized.
    3. Their link reputation is better than your competitors'.
    4. Your users like what they see and your bounce rate is sufficiently low.

    Hope this helps.
