Why Does it Seem Like the Media Control the Stock Market?

Does anybody else feel like the media controls the stock market? If market websites were to put their headlines as only positive things for the entire day, I guarantee that the market would have a great day. The media can pick and choose what it wants people to read. All they have been choosing to display is negative things about the economy. They will seriously take some penny stock and say that it has lost 60% of profits for the quarter. Then everyone reads this and panics because they think the market is going to tank because of one penny stock. Maybe I am the only person who thinks this is true?

A light bulb just lit up.

The media controls what people think. Without today's media, I wouldnt have any idea what is going on in New York from Indiana. In between here and there, they can spin anything they want however they want.

I think you have that backward. Things don't get reported in the MSM unless they are "supposed to" be reported.

Right now the stock market will drop and drop, it is really the BEST time to buy stock and wait for the long haul. Things will rebound as they always do, it will be a long term wait, but well worth it. Wait and see, after this is all over there will be many new "big" players in the stock exchange.

With the major stocks the media has a big % of control over it.

Not really, the market is pretty independent of media, in fact the market is ahead of the media. In 2000 the stock market peaked while every in the media was saying how good the economy is.

Correct, the media will sucker the people into believing its hype then the sellers will dump while the masses are buying. Its called selling into the hype and this is why only the most seasoned stock traders who can check their emotions out the door can make money in this market.
Your only supposed to have emotion in the market to understand how the masses feel it to play on it. I wzas running with a great group of guys called the hevy traders. It was only when i got away from them and started believing i could profit on any trade that i lost it all.
If you guys could ever find em again, i would suggest watching them trade. They used to have a chat room, and all they wanted in return for great trades were gift cetificates to outback steakhouse lol. This was 7 to 8 years back so i dont knwo if they are still doing this for free.

Great traders i have ever had the pleasure to watch in action.
Ahh the memories, ahhh the mistakes lol

welloff people use media to sell their propoganda so that un-informed investors can buy their dud stocks at ridiculous prices.....also politicians use media at their election time to give impression that everything in the country is bright and sunny and hence stocks stay inflated......but smart people know how not to get caught in media hype and take rational and sound investment decisions...
