When I buy domains, I like to search Google for the key phrase of the domain, in quotes and without quotes to see how many results there are to get an idea of whether people are actually searching for that phrase. I think it's a decent indicator of a good domain, though I've never really re-sold any of my domains...I just like to hog them for my own use. So anyway, on many different occasions, the number of search results has been DIFFERENT for the SAME KEY PHRASE. Why? Let's say I searched for "home online mortgage" in quotes on Google. Sometimes in quotes brings 80,000 results, and sometimes it brings only 600. What's the deal? Today I tried "liquid car wax" in quotes it brought 14,000 results...yesterday the same exact search brought in 9 results. So seriously, is Google search messed up...why such a big discrepancy? Any explanation...am I the only one to notice this big gap in search result numbers that seems to vary on a daily basis? Thanks for any info/insight.
The quantity of search results does change on a daily basis! - you are not the only one! They seem to go in a cycle....imho More established sites - search terms seem to be less volatile If you measure your own site you will see this, i take an average over a couple of weeks to get a reliable quantity that can be used for determining if a new funky domain name will be worth getting and promoting
Google mess up these days. Various type of results for different keyphrases, up/down position of sites. They are want to modify something. Stay chill for a while and maybe you will observe exactly what is happening.
I don't think it changes in a large quantity such as 80,000 to 600. I was also checking the number of back links for my site earlier it said there are 438 back links for my site and the next day it was only 600. I was amazed to see such kind of discrepancy. The results were not reliable.
Google is always changing every day, the search results depends on the number of people using keywords.
