Why does it happen so badly?

I built a new website few months back.It has no PR at present(its new site)
After one month or so i started ranking for some good terms which I was targetting(because of low competition I get low traffic! )But suddenly one day I find that all my search rankings have dropped and am getting very very few traffic from google. Its about a month from then but my site has not recovered yet!
I didnt do any black hat technique. All backlinks are from directories one way links and with different anchor text.content is unique.
Any possible suggestions for this drop?

There could be many reasons ... You may have gotten few links from black listed directories.

So how do I know if a directory is blacklisted or not?

Something similar happened to one of my site, lost almost all traffic from google in one day (it was a low traffic site but still). I didn't do anything blackhat (never do), but after looking a bit at the situation, it seemed to coincide with getting a site wide link from a site of dubious reputation (links to text links ads, etc). I'm not sure why I should be punished for someone else's link to my site, but oh well.

Google changes algorithm often and the algorithm that favored your site is not being used. Don't worry it's a cycle and Google will use it again.

Google is doing an algo change that's dubbed update "Dewey", and apparently it hasn't been favorable to many sites.

So i wouldn't go making any snap changes, just keep building links and adding content because in this situation sometimes the best thing to do is sit tight for a while and just monitor your site.
