Why does Islam degrade women by keeping them behind the veil?

ok for all those who are against this veil...

let me tell you ppl something..i am a muslim living in the middle east..

although rapes and such things do occur all over the world..just compare the rates of the west Vs. the middle east..you will know..

i am a broad minded person...and to think that its a cage is pathetic..i am in a hurry..now but surely i will post a big post here once i get more time..

just look at how the ppl in us and other countries dress...as someone mentioned above..literally as hookers! thats not the end...

A lot of problem in todays world is misconception regarding Islam and its practises..

i know there might be sarcastic posts after this...i have two videos..which are made ..documentaries essentially..produced by Empires International..a Western company deja vu' b and it shows the true image of Islam..i mean like what Islam is about and how peaceful a religion it is...MEDIA is a very assertive and deviating source of information..so if u depend on it for your bread and butter...its not worthwhile

yeah and forgot to mention...as i was reading the posts above..one thing a true muslim does know about is to respect other religions..no matter what they worship...

and Media potrays muslims as terrorists etc....

He would be surprised to find out many people talking down on the practices are anything but Christians, or any other religion for that matter. I give all religions flak, but mostly Islam because that's where most of the criticism belongs.

 

Why don't you enlighten everyone as to why your reported rapes are so low, besides humping the amazing feat upon burqas, what are the other reasons?

If Islam isn't so bad then why aren't you standing up for it and telling us what these things really stand for and mean? I've said this before...why is it that Islamic people of faith aren't outcrying everything that's being done in the name of Islam? Maybe it's not a religion of peace then as some people claim. It just bothers me that I never hear anything FROM Islamic followers who decry their jihaahist terrorist extremists...you can bet that if an extreme sect of Christianity was killing and murdering in the name of Christianity then there would be a big outcry of Christians and the Pope against it...

When I was in Riyadh, there was a tv commentator that said women were covered up long before Islam came into being.
The tribes were tired of their enemies abducting the pretty women, so they made all women cover up so when the enemies came to abduct the women, they got some of the ugly ones as well!

I read in the Koran that women must cover their 'adornment'. It seems as though every sect has a different definition of that word.

Why it is not like every men should wear a muzzle around his dick as well unless he is with his wife in private? and who ever found not wearing it should get his dick severed. Then we would have called it equal and it would have brought the rapes to near about ZERO...

 

There may not be as many reported attacks on women
(which will have many reasons, eg. not being reported- the woman may be afraid of being accused instead of adultery even) but in the western communities, you hardly ever hear of a woman being stoned for commiting (or for being accused of commiting) adultery, or being set on fire or abducted and murdered for refusing an arranged marriage either....which saddely we do hear about from certain places.....yet what happens to the men if they commit adultery or refuse an arranged marriage? Nothing as far as I know- very unequal rights- right there don't you think? Or do I have this wrong?

So it is difficult for a western woman to see the virtue of Islam for women I guess....this dosen't really sell it to us tbh.

I dislike the trend for slutty dressing- but defend anyones right to wear what ever the heck they like! Dressing badly is not a crime or evil, rape and assault is. One should be punished and not the other in imho.

Wear what you wish- as long as it dosen't prevent you from participating and complying with the law as far as health and safety are concerned in the country you live-is maybe another way to look at what women should wear?

A lot of muslim girls have to be excluded from P.E in western schools as all that garb is dangerous to wear during P.E and in certain jobs also. Lots of girls hate P.E at school but...have to do it by law if they attend schools in the West- why should anyone be exempt if they are going to live in a country, attend and enjoy the faciliaties in it's schools and abide by a countries laws too-Please explain?

I would like to see clarification on a point or two myself as far as muslim ethos and Islam being peaceful...

It happens that the ideologies which the rest of the world lives under including a lot of the muslim world is considered evil (capitalism, etc.) Therefore these systems have to be abolished by all forms of jihad apparently, whether military or not by muslim belief and degree. How is this going to be done by peaceful means- please explain?

If a westerner goes to a muslim country- are they allowed to ignore that countries laws and do as they will or do they have to conform to the countries laws?

Don't muslims everywhere (correct me if I'm wrong), go to other countries and insist that for this reason or that they shoudn't have to abide by the law of that country- they protest it should be changed to accomodate them....now i'm all for being liberal but..fairs fair, don't you think?

I am not christian, I don't hate anybody I'm not racist or a bigot, my belief is live and let live as long as the favour is recipricated we will all get along just fine- these are genuine questions and observations I would dearly like to be proven wrong and mistaken on.

I for one, cannot belive that women are 'better off' under muslim rule or that the muslim ethos etc exhaults women. Or that Jihad is a peaceful activity that muslims extend to the non muslim world, for the furthering the ideals of world peace...

I would be quite happy to be put right on any of these points- if I have any of them wrong. Are women not even allowed to vote or drive in a lot of muslim ruled countries- or is that simply hype by the western press?

It seems just a tad misleading to try to claim that women are in fact protected in muslim countries and better of than in the west when there is ample evidence around to prove that this is clearly a misleading statement.

Thats just my opinion- for what it's worth from the perspective of a Western Woman.

 

You know what? When any Christian says something about islam then I get pissed with it, why, because they themselves don’t know what exactly their scripture is saying to them. And keep on writing and proliferating Islamic original teachings. But still represent them as good Christians (if they know their religion well, they will never be bad to anyone, especially Muslim). At the other hand, I love atheist, at least they have nothing to do with any religion and they don’t call themselves from any creed. That makes sense to me and I feel them as original people, at least not hypocrites and double standard people. They just show what they are. So I love to talk to them and its my profound wish to induce them to my views and then learn more from their logical replies. But here it seems no one is interested in finding / searching and discussing truth, rather they enjoy bulling each others religion and values (even without having any knowledge for that). I find no serious person to discuss issues and to find their solutions. Harassing each other wont work……

Man, Difference in views could be anywhere in world, you give me a system where there is no difference in views and every one is living happily. Rather there are more differences like every one wants him to be the king and wants people to obey him.
