    They have improved a lot as to remain in competition. Although I feel that firefox is still better (if not faster) than Ie. Also other browsers like chrome and opera are much faster than firefox or ie.

    Why they are thinking of discounting it? Easy: They're developing a brand-new, fully compatible and fast browser called Gazelle (google it if you haven't followed the news).

    Gazelle is the most secure browser you can get, because it runs like on it's "own" operating system (some kind of sandbox, I think), so security flaws is fully avioded.

    Of course. But they are using Gazelle so they can replace IE8 because IE8 is so bad.
    You can't get it yet so don't make such a statement.
    A sandbox is not like an operating system but more like BSD "jails". Chrome also runs in a sandbox but in no case should you think security flaws can be fully avoided.
