Why does google only show 18 (article) links to my site when I should have 100+?

I've been submitting articles pointing to one of my sites since about last September and by now I have 100+, not to mention all of the times that those articles got published elsewhere (I'm not seeing ANY non article site links...why?).

So that question, but another. I could accept google just hasn't registered the links yet, but links showed from December as well as older ones since September, so it's a small mix of recent and older article links. If it's not going in order, what's up? I should have tons more??

When I search for just my url (sans links) it shows all of the articles AND published sites with my articles and links back to my site. Do I just have to wait longer for google to recognize all of them and it just goes out of order?

It's possible the articles you submitted haven't been indexed yet. I would think it's also a possibility of filtering duplicate content.

Sometimes there is the problem of noindex tags as well.

Furthermore, Google is a real pain sometimes and won't display all the links it sees, even if it sees them. Try the yahoo backlink tool, as it's usually more accurate.

Hmm, how anal is google with that? Each article is written from scratch, the content is typically on alot of the same topics in the niche and I may repeat a phrase or two without thinking of it, would that happen?

So you're saying this is more a problem on the end of the google tool's reporting, just doing it incorrectly, but I'm still good and have more links than it shows?

Yes, Google is real anal with that, especially with the same article submitted to a ton of article sites.

Also, ilikenwf is correct, now all backlinks are shown with the link: search criteria. Try their webmaster tools to see a more accurate description of what Google thinks of your site in terms of links, content, etc.

i think duplicate content is your problem, duplicate articles only get indexed a couple of times in google

That's rough, I mean I wrote each one from scratch, I'd be interested in knowing google's idea of duplicate content. Not that that'd ever happen.

    *edit*

I had 18 links a second ago and just checked again and now have 19. Does it fluctuate a bit?

It sounds like he wrote an article for his site; then wrote similar articles and posted them on other sites to get backlinks. Isn't that what your supposed to do? If not, how do you get backlinks that count? What is the point of writing the same article in 10 different ways to get links that don't count. Dude I feel your pain you do what people on here tell you and it gets you nowhere. I'm pissed off for you:mad:

How do we get more traffic? I also write good articles, but then what? Content is not enough if your starting off I've learned that much. So now what, go to a bunch of related blogs and post using your sig? Can someone pls explain??

Google has been cracking down on article sites lately as they can be spam farms. Not hard to spot either as they have lots of outgoing links and no original content.

Most of the article directories takes weeks or month to get your article publish if it is approved. And, take note that google only list and take count of dofollow links. So, if your article directory doesn't give dofollow link to author column, it won't appear in google search results. I hope this clears your question.
