Why does Google hate my site?

Ok, maybe hate is a strong word... but certainly Google does not like my website, as far as rankings are concerned anyway.

I rank no.1 for a lot of my keywords for MSN and Yahoo, and am in the top 10 for most of the other important phrases.

But in Google I'm no-where. Other than a search for my website name, I do not rank for anything at all... not even in the top 200.

I know PR is not that important, I'm just a PR3, but I'm in a fairly niche market online and so it's not that much of a big deal. All the software that I've run to check my site against the top 10 sites on Google say that I should be ranked in at least the top 20, if not in a top 5 position.

But why am I no.1 in the other engines, and absolutely nowhere in Google?

I rank on the first page for Google Images for a few phrases (curiously including "Han Solo"), so i know I'm not banned or anything. But considering my site is 2 years old now, surely I'm out of the sandbox and should start seeing some results.

What am I doing wrong? Or what am i not doing?

Getting more links with your targeted search terms as anchor text would be a good start.

I suppose that would help my rankings, but it seems that even without huge numbers of incoming links (I do have a fair bit anyway), the site should at least be in the top 200 for at least some keywords.

I've read a bit more about this, and it seems that I may be in the sandbox still. Apparently you can get put back in it again and again... who knows why, as I'm not doing link exchanges, or any spammy stuff.

I regularly check my rankings, and about 1 month ago I appeared in the top 100 for about 5 keywords, then a week later they disapeared again.

dj_gie - his URL is at the beginning of his post.

I searched Google for site:www.aspectart.com, and all but the home page are in the Supplemental Index. You need to make each page have a unique Meta Description tag.

    Cryo.

Ummm, to be honest, Google is one of the "most famous" search engines in the internet and Google is very lazy on indexing sites, meaning it would take months or weeks to be indexed by Google.

Same problem on occasion. It seems like my sites have gotten high in the rankings and then for whatever reasons my ranking goes way down. I seem to get a pretty good ranking about a month after I take sites live though. Again, not sure why. Just keep plugging away with content I say.

Nod. I agree with keeping content coming in. Also consider link love. Be SURE your site is easily navigated by the spiderbots without any snags. Steer away from black hat techniques, no matter how tempting they are. Try social bookmarking sites like Digg.

Sorry for going off topic, but is there a tool that checks your sites ranking on Google depending on keyword?

Yeah, I'd also like a tool for checking your ranking on google, as someone above wanted, is there one?

Could it be due to Google has nothing better to do than hate your site? :D

Anyway this is more likely a Google-forum related question IMHO
