Why does a God want us to worship him?

This is a question to all those who believe in a god or gods. Why does a god want us to worship it so much? If a god is really so powerful, so all knowing then why would a god care about lesser beings worshipping it? What does a god and humans gain from it?

To those who believe in a god or gods assuming if it or they are real, how do you know they are even really a "god"? What if they are not, and your praise just empower them while preventing your progress?

Windtalker God never want us to worship him its only we who do worship him and its only us who dont worship him - we do it because we believe that doing worship him can help us in our life in some ways. People mainly worship when they are in need or are in trouble - there are very few who remb him when they are happy.
God is in yourself just you have to find him in your soul and once you will find him then I think you dont need anything else in your life as he is the last thing people want.

I believe God does want us to worship Him, because if you don't, you will walk on a path far from him, which will take you not to a good end.

He wants us to be close to Him and not far from Him. If you don't worship God, there are other beings out there waiting for you eagerly. Hell, for example.

How would God be God, if He created everything and left them?

I think that if there is a God, he wouldn't have gone through the trouble of creating something as complex as the known universe to just have one, single, rather pitiful (in terms of physical ability to survive and mental processing ability) species worship him.

God wants us to worship Him for who He is and He desires to share all that He has with us. The pitifulness of man, as one replier answered, is due to our sin. By sending Jesus Christ [God in the flesh] to pay for our sins, we can gain access to our God who is holy and sinless.

God could have left well enough alone and not created mankind. Instead, He chose to share His wealth with those who choose to seek and follow Him.

And your ridicule of others who believe differently than you displays your level of maturity.

If god wanted you to do something; why'd he give you free will? You have the choice to do so or not to do so. I think your whole question is rather flawed.

The real question is "why should you worship God?"

So the murderer and raper of a little girl who worship daily will walk on a path close to Him more than the non believer who is a "good" person to everybody but do not worship?

You know, you're right, if God existed, do you believe He will let 25,000 infants dying of malnutrition every day?

God put man in charge of the earth. He has given us a freewill and that includes doing what is right, namely helping those who are helpless.

All the resources we need are at our disposal. We're just greatly misusing most of them.

    This Guy has it right.
    Very Good Post.
God needs no one to worship him.
He is there however if you ever need him, and you ask sincerely with your heart.
    No Dogmatism, no bullshit.
Only Religions need you to worship god.
God Needs nothing, and desires nothing from you, apart from you to be happy.

Worshipping God is our way of thanking Him for what he does for us.

Actually, I believe that worshipping God only so I can get something out of it is heretical. God is not in a nice little box that I can close and put into my pocket. God has created us for the purpose of relationship, therefore we worship God so that we to can have a relationship with God. God can have a relationship with us whether we worship God or not. Its the same thing with believing...God has given us the choice of believing or not. No matter what we do though, God is always there for us, whether we want it or not.
