Sorry links from dmoz editors selling on freelancer sites aren't worth more than $100. And they are selling for $300 or more. Also yahoo directories doesn't help that much.

Every little helps and you get some seo benefits from Dmoz. Perhaps more useful than that is that many websites base their directories on Dmoz, meaning you pick up links from other sites too.

Don't believe everything you read :)

Just because a person claims to be an editor, claims that they can place your site into DMOZ, dosent mean that they actually are an editor and can list the site.

Offering any incentives for inclusion would result in a permanent ban on all of your sites.

Snooks is right. Anyone can claim to be anything on a computer, and once they have your money, you're pretty much screwed.

(Haven't you gotten any of those emails wanting to use your bank account to get some hidden funds out of the country for some poor widow whose filthy rich husband had been killed in a coup? :D Usually turns out to be some guy in Nigeria)

Some of these guys who make claims might even be semi legit. They'll tell you they have a provable track record by submitting say 100 site suggestions, and if 50 get listed, they can claim to have a 50% success rate. What they don't tell you is that they have no inside track, they just suggest a lot of sites the same way everybody else does, and the same way you can.

Now those numbers can be very selective too, they can show you what they want to show you, rather than every single site that they've ever suggested, and the real final results as a percentage.

It's a great scam on you all, and only semi dishonest, but it has nothing to do with real editors, it's between you and the guy you pay the money to. He has as much chance of success, as you have, but he gets your money by putting a little spin on the facts.:D

It's strange most people with sites listed on DMOZ don't see much traffic coming in. But your experience seems to be different.

What's your site URL? Which category on DMOZ are you listed?

I think traffic should differ for different categories...

because of all the other directories that come along and copy your listings, and the free links you get.

What PR has to do with SERP?

AMRAY Directory have no link from DMOZ and yet if you Google for:
best free directories AMRAY is on page #1

Also, AMRAY has PR 6 without being listed by DMOZ thus for wannabe SEOs who are making argument
that you have to be listed in DMOZ to get high PR is totally rubbish and stupid argument.

    ;)

    @syted

First of all I said "has" not have or is
Second: Google for best directories list and look for 4th from the top on page #1
Our directory with low PR and not even 1 year old

    ;)
