Why do YOU use twitter?

i used 2 use it to try promoting lniks but that didnt work out too well so now i mainly use it for taking part in contests like the one namecheap's having

 

Yes I have seen and entered a few contests on Twitter. It is a good way to use the site for marketing. Maybe "Follow Us For A Chance To Win A Laptop"...

 

Just began using it to build an opt - in list.

Does anyone use twitter for a local business like a restaurant to share specials or events at like a night club?

 

I'm still fairly newbish at twitter... i've been a member for a while, but mostly i use it to micro blog my personal life, when i know i can utilise it better....

 

I use it for marketing - it is a fantastic way to personally connect with people, leading to longer lasting relationships and friendships.

 

I use it for fun and promoting of my sites and my webdesign business. With Twitter you can get customers who (believe) they know you. Thats nice.

 

just for fun nowadays, because it was a total failure when i used it for business (only $200/mth)

 

I have just created a twitter account (on Christmas day -- I'm obsessed )

I want to use it to promote my new business. What I am not sure about is how to do that. We all hate spam and I don't want a spammy twitter account, so what I'll probably do is post some general info like inspiring quotes, links to cool articles, etc, then once in a while I'll mention what's new in my company, or offer promotional coupons to Twitter users.

When my website is down, or people have questions, I go directly to Twitter. It's a simple way to let everyone know the status of your website and little updates that don't need to be put on the site but instead on Twitter.

I am using Twitter to promote my sites and to build new applications. I like it.

Try using some applications like the ones from givingatweet.com.

 

I am not sure why people use it. May be they want to sell something? well, it seems like everyone out there wants to use twitter to market their catch to other sellers.

I am in fitness niche and each and every one of my followers is another seller who started following me voluntarily. What a joke!! My twitter account is one big spam box with countless tweets by the second. Isn't it funny to see some people tweet their day out in the hope to make it big on affiliate marketing? I think they (at least my followers) need to spread out their focus and de-risk their businesses to some extent.
