WEll that is a question that came to my mind yesterday. I answered soem threads and the one who asked the question told me that my advice or post helped him. but nobody added a rep.

this led my to the question why most people do not add rep's even if the post is helpfull to them?

let me know what you think

Because it takes too long to do it.

If there was just 2 buttons on a post for positive negative rep and all you had to do was click it I bet it would be used more.

Agreed, I can't be bothered giving rep but I'm sure I'd use it if that was brought in.

People would run crazy giving negative reps to everyone in seconds. :D

People do give reps, but its a matter of luck.

To be fair it wasn't until a few days ago that I even noticed the reputation button. I've been on DP for a good few months now and the icon for reputation is really out of the way. I also have noscript on in Firefox (which alot of people do) and it hides the icon further.

Probably because they are lazy or maybe don't even know how to give rep :)

Most people just cannot be bothered.

I never give -rep unless I'm pissed off at someone (I gave loads in the topic about 1INR=1USD - that was full of stupid assholes)

I do give green rep, though.

I didn't know it existed till a while ago - plus it's hard to give. If there was a + or - option on posts, I'm sure it would get used a lot more

I don't understand why people say it's too much work. Takes only 2 clicks, the whole process only takes about 2-5 seconds.

If someone took more than 2-5 seconds out of their time to help someone out in their thread or post, I think it's well deserved the extra 2-5 seconds to rep someone ;)

Yes I have also noticed that even though most people seem willing to give iTrader for good service, many people are stingy when it comes to giving Rep for helping with a question, for some reason.

I think only a 10% of helpful posts get repped so don't give up ... sometimes I do forget to rep when people are helpful

I think people are a bit lazy to give rep. They mostly give rep in return (or exchange) and sometimes even that doesn't happen. :D

I do give rep when posts are helpful or when I agree with what is said. But I have to agree with the comments that webmasters are lazy and sometimes crazy to give rep (either green or red!)...:)

Its called itrader for a reason you don't just give rep for a helpful post, you only give rep if you have made a trade with someone, (selling or buying). If people were to give reps for something like helpful posts people would be scamming all over the place, rep is to help people trade with trusted members of DP so they don't get scammed.

well i guess your on the learning curve. i'll give you rep wherever and whenever i want, be it green or red. it does not require that we do business.

it just requires i'm inclined to give or take rep.
