I think this thread can help everybody, a lot of webmasters have several websites with very little traffic, they might get a hit or two from the search egines but their traffic does not increase a lot, now we all know that returning traffic can bring more links, and also returning traffic can visit your sponsors over, and over and over. So the question is: What makes you return to a website? Post 1 or two reasons.
Hi! Well..just like everybody else, I guess. It is has some information I'm looking for..or perhaps it is entertaining. I could return if the design was really unique..and I wanted to learn more about how they did it. Bryon
Some types of sites just don't get returning vistirs no matter how good and interesting the content because of the type of sites they are.
I'm definitely into aesthetics--pretty things, nice design/layout and the content has to be well-written and informative. Even if the content has good information, but is not written well, then I usually won't return.
The main reason for me is the content it offers. If I am looking for something and it has it and it offers it in the best possible way, then I would use that site.
The reason people return to websites is to get more of whatever they found there the first time. That may be design stuff but almost never is unless the design is truly excellent and innovative (and the only people that would go back to look at neat design is... designers). It could be a tool, service or content the viewer feels can continue to help them. ...or to unsubscribe from something.
If it has so much information that I know I will need it later, I will bookmark it and return again and again to absorb everything.
I think it has a lot to do on how often that site update the content I would go few times but after a while if they dont update the site content with more interesting stuff it will get old.
Well, there aren't that many sites that I return to often. If it is updated frequently, such as a blog, forum, or news site, then I will return. If the site has a lot of information and an easy layout, I might bookmark it. But I have bookmarked a lot of sites that I've never returned to. This is why it's important to capture emails or offer RSS when the visitors come the first time.
I go to a website seeking information... I would return if they keep updating their site, so add on a date to when you post information (if it's recent) so people know you do add in more content.
I ussually return to sites only when they: 1. Have proper content 2. The layout isnt ainful to the eye 3. It is fast to load. 4. Not too many ads.
1. Entertaining or Informative Content 2. Low or No Ads. (I hate ad-filled/crammed sites!) 3. Unique Content 4. Nice Layout/Original 5. Updated on a regular basis 6. SFW (Suitable for work) = no adult content 7. Not made for adsense 8. Well written content 9. links to my site (someone who links and supports my blog, i like to return the favour) 10. Nice loading times, not too image or flash intensive I hope this helps you and many webmasters around the world. lol
