I live in the Southern California beach community of Ventura, located about 45 miles north of Los Angeles and just south of Santa Barbara. Here are some great reasons why Ventura County is a great place to live and visit. Ventura County Harbor - Ventura County has a few harbors, two of which are the Channel Islands Harbor and the Ventura Harbor. Although the Channel Islands Harbor has been some what lack the past few years the Ventura Harbor is full of life and entertainment. The Ventura Harbor is set to the south of the city and over looks beautiful boats (and some not so beautiful). It's a great place for great food and entertainment with establishments such as Margaritaville, The Greek restaurant and the Ventura Harbor Comedy Club. The Ventura County Fair - Located at Seaside Park in Ventura, The Ventura County Fair is a great place to meet up with friends or to enjoy a great day with the family. The arts and crafts shows are unique and the food is delicious. Many famous bands also play at the Ventura County Fair, some of which include Paparoach, Tune Bandits, Gretchen Wilson, Good Charlotte, and many many more. Ventura Surf Spots - Ventura County is known for it world famous surfing. From the county line of Los Angeles to the famous barrels of Sandspit (Santa Barbara), Ventura County is definetly on the list of many surfers. Some of the surf spots you might recognize and not recognize are Supertubes, the base, Hueneme Pier, Silver Strand, Oxnard Shores, South Jetty, Dredge, Pierpont, C-Street, Stables, Emma Wood State Beach, Solimar, Tanks, a few secret spots, Rincon, and the Infamous Sandpit (Just north of Ventura County in The Santa Barbara Harbor). Ojai - The City of Ojai is known for its beautiful mountains ranges surrounding the Ojai Valley, its spiritual vibe, and the famous Ojai Valley Inn. Many famous actors and athletes love to spend a few days in the sun and enjoy a day at the spa and a nice round of golf. The Ojai Valley Inn, in the past, was a stop on the Professional Golf Senior (Champions) Tour Ventura Skate Parks - Just about every city in Ventura County has a skate park for the youth and adult skaters alike. The Skate park in Santa Paula is probably the best in the county. All and all Ventura County is a great place to visit, especially with all the wonderful hotels in Ventura County.
