I see many posts where people look for backlinks and I do not know why? I have websites that ranks very well with a single or 3-4 good links. Links that brings visitors. Too many links means too many low quality links. A low quality link is that link that is not clicked. Thant link that brings no visitors. Do you think that google does not compare nr of links with nr of clicks? If nr of links >nr of clicks from that links ( if the difference is very high) you will end up with unnatural links warning. It's very easy. I see many threads about building links on high PR blogs, article directories and so on. This has nothing to do with a natural link or a high quality link. Make sure the link will give you some clicks or else it's unnatural and the penguin will be upon you ) Few years ago a started to create 30-40 web 2.0 posts and about 100 social bookmarking. It's all depends on clicks from those links. I had no clicks because nobody knows about those web 2.0 posts and guess what. The websites were penalized by Penguin. Even if I had quality unique articles. It's just a temporary ranking. Google is quite smart, and will compare your back link profile with the number of clicks from those links. Google doesn't care about your unique article or the page rank of that blog. don't be trapped by those PR factors!
We all need backlinks - without them there would be no traffic to our sites; if you think about it, the world wide web would not exist without backlinks - links to other sites. Google isn't daft though - they look at where your inbound links are coming from and at the growth rate of those links (natural link growth is slower than you might imagine) and can easily tell when you've paid some fake SEO company to promote your site; they know that if you gain 12,000 backlinks from comments on fake real estate blogs in a two week period that all point at your computer support website, then they're probably not genuine and they will take this into consideration when ranking and positioning your site links in their search results. Equally, if your same computer support website has slow and steady natural growth from a variety of related sources and includes "trusted" sites with good PR and content, then this will also be taken into consideration. They know the "tricks" people employ to try and game the system and they have the data depth and crawling ability to find you out (in most cases) - so instead of worrying about what Google thinks, promote your site from the perspective of real people and how they might find you and you'll likely find that Google with show you some "love" as a consequence.
You don't need to make so much backlinks you are right, but being active on search engines is very important merged with flawless content spread all over each time you have the opportunity. I can't sustain your idea til the end! Sorry
Search engines want websites to have a level playing field, and look for natural links built slowly over time. While it is fairly easy to manipulate links on a web page to try to achieve a higher ranking, it is a lot harder to influence a search engine with external backlinks from other websites. This is also a reason why backlinks factor in so highly into a search engine's algorithm. Lately, however, a search engine's criteria for quality inbound links has gotten even tougher, thanks to unscrupulous webmasters trying to achieve these inbound links by deceptive or sneaky techniques, such as with hidden links, or automatically generated pages whose sole purpose is to provide inbound links to websites. These pages are called link farms, and they are not only disregarded by search engines, but linking to a link farm could get your site banned entirely. Another reason to achieve quality backlinks is to entice visitors to come to your website. You can't build a website, and then expect that people will find your website without pointing the way. You will probably have to get the word out there about your site. One way webmasters got the word out used to be through reciprocal linking.
I felt you're right friend. The key is that as Google algo continue getting smart with deciphering natural and unnatural link profile, we may have to quit building backlinks ourselves. I think it will soon come with how many clicks these links are generating. Google is a billion dollar company. I'm sure they're watching the new ways the so-called great SEOs are using for building backlinks. I agree with your point friend.
Pretty useful post I must say. Thanks for sharing. Also, I totally agree with the fact that websites can rank with only a few backlinks.
Couldn't agree more! I feel like slapping all those that send me daily link exchange requests, guest post requests and all the others in between that are obsessed with black hat seo. If they have not lost positions now they soon will I have personally concentrated on lots of quality content and social media natural sharing and have a huge nofollow footprint thanks to social media and as a result anything I post on my blog gets top seo results straight away!
Absolutely, You can find out using Google Analytics. They will tell you what sites visitors came from, how long they stayed on your site, how many visitors came from that site and so on.
I agree that we shouldn't focus on getting backlinks but we can deny that backlinks are a big part of ranking well in SERP's. You get a ton of traffic and have enough quality backlinks, you can do well in SERP's. That along with having enough quality content that is at least 2,000 words. This is not set in stone but it sure will help. Google only knows for sure exactly but getting natural backlinks is just part of what we have to deal with unfortunately.
The number of backlinks is an indication of the popularity or importance of that website. Backlinks are important for SEO because some search engines like Google, give more credit to websites that have a large number of quality backlinks, and consider those websites more relevant than others in their results pages for a search query.
