Hi Don't know if you all encounter this. But when I had problem with File Manager in Cpanel previously, I contacted Hosting company's Live Support/Help. They then said they need my account details and password to access my cpanel. Is it normal practice for hosting company's support to ask for password to cpanel? Shouldn't they have restricted controlled access to cpanels of customers without using customer's password? I mean like when you have problem with your bank ATM card and report to the bank, the bank does not ask you for your ATM password, right. Thanks
They shouldn't have to ask this from you. If they needed to get in there as you, at most they should reset your password and then have you set it back when they're done!
Maybe some support are outsource and doesnt have the whole account details but they have sign a privacy argreement never to use customer's password other than just plain support. I would also suggest you reset your password first into a different one before giving it away, then reset it back to your old one after the job is done ASAP.
Yep...that is what I had to do. Which is very inconvenient. The support did not seem too concern that they are actually asking for password and did not offer any assurances. They just kept insisting that if no password given, they will not be able to help Also I don't think support signing agreements mean anything these days... That is like giving our email addresses to specific vendor who has agreement that states they will not distribute or give away our email address and before you know it, you get all kinds of spam email like viagra, penis enlargement etc
