Hello Guys!! Do any one knows why do we have QWERTY keyboards instead of ABCDEF? Please share your views in this.. Thanks in advance Rohit
Searching Google.com can give u the answer http://answers.yahoo.com/question/index?qid=20061016084649AAO8m6n&show=7
"You've already had the right answer. Designed to slow down typists. In the days when the keys hit the ribbon, they could get jammed if the typist typed too quickly. This does nor explain why keyboards in Germany became qwertz instead of qwerty. There is also a French version which is awerty, (not too sure about that - only used one once and it was a nightmare). Computer keyboards still follow this tradition. So if zou're used to qwerty zou might just tzpe ' the quick brown fox jumps over the layz dog'. But please wait at least 20 zears before changing it to abc. Bz then I should be passed caring." Summary if you dont want to click .lol pretty intresting =]
Yeah, reading the yahoo answer now I know why the rules being made. It is logic as not to jammed the typewriter
No to make you type slower as in previous thread many of our dp members had explained it finely Please go thru it Thanks
nah you definitely type fast this way. Its been proven since you can easily make use of both hands without looking.. as if it was just a-z in 3 rows that would be impossible and akward to type.
I m also in dilemma well in this thread it is almost clear why do we have QWERTY keyboards.. Any ways what is Qwertyitis??
Better question: Why not DVORAK, Dvorak is the fastest keyboard layout there is, in 3 weeks you can type faster on a dvorak then a qwerty.
Because the keyboard have THE "qwerty" keys in it. If it was abcdef from the beginning then it will be like it.
You all have a false opinion, that QWERTY makes you type faster, this it not true. Wiki: To type faster, was invented the DVORAK keyboard, frequent characters are placed under the right hand, etc. And whats the most interesting for me is that numbers in DVORAK keyboard are not placed like 1234567890, but somehting like 5328190467
When a person spends too much time at the computer and falls asleep on their keyboard, also known as keyboard face. More keyboard layouts here.
