About 5 years ago I wrote to a product owner whose product I wanted to promote asking him if he had any banners etc. about his product, cos his affiliate page just said,"add your link to your website and make money".

He wrote back saying he was too busy to worry about things like that.
In case you're wondering - I didn't promote his stuff, although it was good.

Yeah stuff like that is ridiculous and I don't blame you for not responding to them.

It just sucks when you're a serious affiliate and you just need something like banners or keywords or you're asking a simple question about the product and they don't respond.

i see vendor bashing here (just kidding!). its obvious that affiliates bring in majority of the dough and vendors should pay attention to them. i personally do try my best, but at times, i get an email from an affiliate just stating 'i've downloaded it, what should i do?' and that really is difficult to answer. for one, effort was not put in to figure out basics of IM, what to do with banners, blog posts, articles, etc. so its not like some vendors ignore affiliates, sometimes its just the need to balance ROI when in circumstances like that.

Me also, Everyday I reply to every email I receive from affiliate or customer.

From time to time I get the odd affiliate that wants me to earn his commissions for him, I try not to ignore them but it can be hard :)

Yeah, my email get ignored a lot.
I try to make 5-10 sales before I write them. Then say "I am convinced that your product sells, so I would like to put my further effort on blah blah blah..."
Most likely you'll get somekind of response.
