Why do Stupid sites earn so much?

I am asking this question seriously. Why do most of the stupid sites like perezhilton, cheezburger and many more earn so much even though they dont offer a great content? I really want to know why so many stupid sites are successful? How did they promote their sites and get such a huge following and visitors?

 

It's actually very simple:

Because stupid people visit them.

 

theres always the old saying "A fool and his money are soon parted" Doesnt take as much skill to get mindless dumbies to click on colorful shiny ads. Think of a dumb idea and it will probably attract the sub-intelligent.

 

Who is more stupid?

The stupid person with the stupid website making stupid amounts of money.
OR
The stupid person with a content heavy site making crap money.

 

the same reason superbad and howard and kumar goto white castle made so much money. People are getting dumber and dumber!. Idiocracy is coming true!

 

Actually it is really very simple theory. If a site has good contents, people would tend to stay within the site and visit it over and over again. Remember that if they click on your adsense, they will be out of your site and may not come back to visit it again. Adsense allows you to earn from Exit Traffic.

Only if a site has bad content that people want to get away from it fast and would click on the ads which would appear more interesting then the site.

 

Haha Frodo, I actually fall in the second category. /sigh trying to get out of it though. I'd like to be content-heavy AND have stupid amounts of money. Impossible?

stop calling ppl stupid..perez hilton is one smart mofo at getting attention..and they know what their reader like. Gossip site is a very competitive niche..it is not as easy as you think to be the queens of gossip

 

it's all about being the first one to do something that wasn't done yet. Unfortunately it doesn't seem like any such things exist, until someone who isn't me finds one

 

That`s what i thing actually. Anyway if u have a stable traffic to your site and a good content your site shod get some $$$

 

Yeah Perez is so big cos of the way they market, I market on Youtube and you always see Perezhilton videos with 10 000s of plays in the first few days - that's a big advertisement campaign each time for PerezHilton.

The simple reason is more likely to be because those sites have tons and tons of traffic. I may be wrong because I don't know these sites.

I can't believe you said PerezHilton.com is stupid. I don't read it, but have you visited PerezHilton? GENIUS SITE. Something unique on the web that offers commentary and entertains readers with stuff THEY want to read about. Unique posts, updated regularly, and promoted well enough.
