My single page site for complaints about BMG Music group ,which is just a one page info blurb about how to cancel a BMG account, only shows one ad on the page even though I have 4 of them. Any ideas? I would post the site but I am not privy yet.
You're talking about 3 ad blocks plus one link unit, right? I think that's the limit for ads allowed under the TOS. Did all of your ads use to show up? I'm having similar problems. I recently downloaded IE7 beta 2, and now only the first ad block on each page is showing up. The funny thing is, it's the same in Firefox. I made absolutely no changes to my site, but only one ad shows up. I've cleared all caches, cookies, temp internet files, made sure javascript is enabled, and even lowered security settings, but no help. I've read that if there's not enough content, then ads aren't served, but surely a Public Service Announcement would show up instead... but nothing, just a blank space, oh and if I right click that space and view the source code, I get this: <html><body style="background-color: transparent"></body></html> Now I've redesigned my sites with just the one ad on each page... naturally resulting in a loss of revenue, and I'm pulling my hair out trying to find a solution. Can anyone throw some light on this?
Right. My sites have plenty of content. And yes there is usually one of the ads that do appear, but the others are not there at all. I have some forums that get most of my visits that are not getting the ads in the key places that I want them to appear... Funny thing is these are on sub pages of a site that has a pr of 6 on the home page and a 3 on the forum pages. I am using IE 6 haven't tried using any other browsers yet. Can I provide instructions for finding my site? Even though I can't post the link here? I will do so, hope I am not breaking any rules... search 'Cajun' and click the third link contains the word 'Directory'. Then go to the forums and have a look. There should be the tall ad next to the forum postings....??? sigh...
Okay, I found your site. On each of the forums pages, I can see a google ad block in the top-left corner, a link unit on the green bar, and.... yep, it's there. I CAN see the skyscrpaer ad block to the left of the forum postings. I hope that comes as some relief. Though I'm still hoping someone can answer the question, "Why would Adsense show a blank space instead of a PSA?"
The only thing I can think of regards the 'Alternate URL' field in your AdSense code - one of the options for this field is to pick a color, which would usually be the same as the background of your page. Aside from that, I have no idea... Sam
My sites are working fine now and showing all the ads! When I was testing them offline, I would only get PSAs on one of the ads with the others not showing up. I'm sure it was the same online the other day, but who knows.... I've been spending far too much time in front of the computer and I'm losing touch with what's online, offline, real or not! Okay, time to go outside for once!
Nick I think that when you are doing testing gg knows by the ip that you are in 'test' mode cause the same thing happens to me. It is probably a bandwidth saver for them. To reply to your response to my thread ... Try the link at the bottom of the page that goes to the BMG music phone numbers. I have four ads on this page, yet only the top one shows up? Again *** sigh *** ...
Yep, you're right. I can only see one ad and the rest are just showing blank space. I looked at your source html and can't see anything out of the ordinary there, other than your last google code block is outside the 'Close HTML' tag. One thing I noticed though was that after refreshing the page just three or four times, the ads ad the top were replaced by a public service announcement. I find this surprising since you have so much text on the page. It seems as though google isn't seeing much of the text. You can't be alone. Anyone else reading this have or had the same problem?
PSAs are hard to get a read on sometimes, at least in my experience. I have a few sites that have been serving ads for months, and yet I still see a PSA sometimes when I first hit the sites. Just as strange, refreshing the screen typically results in an ad being served. It almost seems as if it's a timing issue or something of the like. Sam
