Why do so many people start web directories?

    I started out as a hobby too and I have about 400+ websites, so a directory is a good way to manage my sites.

    I started mine about 2 mths ago and now it is huge. Turned out that I earn $$$$$ from the sites.
    I chose a couple of good domain names for my directory listing.


    The 3 domain names I use are www.BullShitWebsites.com,www.BullShitSEO.com and www.BullShitDirectory.com
    All rank very high on google, so are the websites I put in.

    Bottom line, you never know until you try!!

    Can't say I've enjoyed the experience that much. I joined a writing directory on yahoo, and all the moderator did was b*tch, b*tch, b*tch. They didn't want hear about writing opportunities unless it offered pay. Stop wasting their time, etc. So after two days and a flood of e-mails, I just canceled.

    I guess it depends on the directory.

    Because I enjoy doing them and eventually developing it for SEO purposes. The money is a secondary issue.
