People use IE only because it comes as default browser with windows. I can bet you that if IE didn't come as default most of the people would be using firefox. Only 10-20% would have IE.
it is built in w/ windows obviously. non techy people will find it hard to download other browsers. most of them doesnt even know firefox exist. btw.. --- safari is now available for windows users. still pretty buggy though
Because FF sucks as much as IE. I hate being in the middle of something and being told "you must use IE for this". I have FF but it is slow and I tend to use IE front ends like Greenbrowser or Maxthon. I decided again last week to switch to FF but got tired of it quickly. About half the extensions wouldn't install and I needed them.
careful now this here is FF country Seems like most webmasters gravitate towards FF but then like me, I have to agree with you in that FF is just too temperamental.
i'm using IE based explorer called "Tencent" it's much better than IE in term of tab menu bars though.
In my opinion FireFox is crap, but my business partner is a fan. For me IE is still the daddy, our stats say so too, around 80% use IE, 16% Firefox and the other 4% use some other shit confused This month 1.7% used safari lol. Utter crap. I'm with Billy Gates on this one as I have tried all sorts including FF and Opera, both crap IMHO.
I am using IE7 and FF2, IE7 has the fishing prevention/detection tools. It sounds good to me as I often use online currency payments
You need to start promoting Firefox with your Adsense refferal in it to get the word out to your users
if it ain't broken.. why change? that's the mentality... until they experience it.. then they'll change.
People want convenience, if the computer comes with IE, they will use IE. Firefox does not have any advantage in terms of browsing over IE so why change? Even if IE didn't come as a default browser people would still use it. I know there are people that don't like Microsoft but they are a minority, people reconise brand and even if there is something better they will always go for the trust brand.
IE comes integrated with windows giving it a huge advantage. Besides many sites open only in IE. However in my case i am too lasy to switch to a new browser.
