You guys are prolly all in the U.S. where not that many people smoke. Try Costa Rica, more than half of the men here smoke. And you can smoke everywhere.
ok.. here is it works. people having their first cig. by various reasons like given or forced by friend, just to try out by curiosity or may be few more. when they smoke, the smoke enters into lungs and through millions of sacs nicotine enters into your body. It releases stress, increases heart pumping rate, increases blood pressure and thus makes you feel good. But as it's having addiction nature, people gets addicted of it badly.
There are lots addiction we don't know of. Directly or indirectly.. Stop making cig., Close down all factories.... but Gov. wont because they are one of the biggest tax payer... IMO
Some start smoking just for fun but after some time they addicted for it and some people are not handle the situation coming in life so, they find the way to get out or forget that situation by smoking and drinking.
I used to smoke before..And based upon my experienced when I smoke, all the stress and tensions that I feel were washed away..
I smoked cig's for 8 years, have been quit for 2. I started when I was 18 because someone whom I had a huge crush on was a smoker and I wanted to have something in common.. lol Yeah.. stupid. I'm very glad I don't smoker cig's anymore.. Nasty habbit.
I started smoking when I was 13. Curiosity was the main reason. until it became a habit then finally.. addiction. Smoking helped me relieve stress and tension. Though it also gave me lung and breathing problems in the process. Years passed, I quit and I am now living a smoke free life. Not a slave for tobacco anymore.
dj, well it is good to know that you understand you are addicted. that is the first step. don't make excuses about it. the only one who cares if u could do worse things is you, it makes u feel better about smoking. that is a step in quiting also. don't make excuses about it. understand this, if you have family and loved ones around you then you are not just hurting yourself. smoking is killing those around you. it makes them sick, even if you go outside to smoke, you bring it back inside with you. it is on your cloths, your skin, it gets onto everything. it is especially bad for kids. those 3000 chemicals become super toxic when heated up. when it is transfered to children it is really bad. their skin absorbs very easily. if you have a family or loved ones you live with or see every day that is the biggest incentive to quit. you are hurting them. use that to help you quit. quitting is a state of mind. the addiction is in your brain. that is where you have to defeat it.
Best explanation. I hate smoking. I did even before I started smoking "regularly" off late. I am quitting. It appears to help with a pissed off feeling of frustration but that's just a withdrawal symptom. Someone posted a link to a video of an experiment which demonstrates how much smoking fucks up your lungs right here on DP. Its true that nothing good at all can come out of smoking tobacco cigarettes. And the "addiction" is psychological!
I have never smoked and never will, I couldnt even if I wanted to! (not enough money!!) The smell is horrible too, my sister smokes and her house stinks, when I go and visit I end up smelling like I smoke too! I think that its much better in the UK now you cant smoke in public places!! And the new thing they are going to try is not having ciggs on display in shops!, I dont think this will help with people who are addicted but may help people not start in the first place ie. out of sight out of mind!
