Why do people put their cell numbers on facebooks lists?

Ok, I know some people put their cell numbers in their profiles, and you would need to be their friend to see it.

But, when people lose their cell number, they ask their friends to send it to them or put it on a list. So, someone starts a group called "need numbers" and their friends enter their cell numbers on that--at least thats what i think is happening.

Now, why would ANYONE put their cell number out on a list that ANYONE could see???

Please help me understand...

 

According to me I think it is a good business policy

 

People don´t think about the consequences, .. so they aren´t really aware what could happen by publishing their cellnumbers on the internet.... Facebook is not used by security-experts, instead by unaware teens and adults that often don´t even are concerned about their privacy on the internet.

 

If one does not want to keep their phone number private what should be the problem?

 

because they're silly?
