Fantastic points. I agree to you But certain points need revision - I have never had a site making 10% CTR anyday. Usually my click rates would be more around 3%.
Good points but I wouldn't say it's difficult, it just takes time. Basic SEO (title, some keywords, internal linking, ...) is easy to understand and learn. Writing content is easy if you know something about something. It takes time but it's not complicated. Getting links is not complicated, only tedious. Some are faster like directory and article submissions, some take more time like getting a link from an authority site. I also don't think it's hard work. Sitting behind a PC and typing is not really hard. Cutting trees may be hard but not typing. It's all about motivation and persistance.
Most of us do not rely solely upon AdSense. It is just another 'nest egg' to many webmasters who also earn from other things such as affiliates.
I agree With you TGS. Thats what i am working on during this time. Own a domain and do something else (another niche) beside making money blog. Thanks
I disagree with these two points. Some sites could be getting 300 visits a day and get $10 easily. Its about your niche and how good the site is. I don't think $10 a day is too bad for a website to be making to be honest with you I agree with the rest though, especially point one about love making websites.
I hate making sites so just use knock up some stuff on blogspot and never usually add to it. it can work if you get the right niche and get lucky with traffic
Yeah, I'm pretty much a newbie but I definitely agree with just about everything. Thanks for the post.
Great points, but "3 If you have less than 1000 per day visiting your site you might as well stop wasting your time, and get a job in the real world. 1000 visitors = 100 clicks, = $10 if you are LUCKY." that's a little bit to harsh. Not giving up is also the key.
I still say 50% of the battle is the market you're in. My one site hit it's 1 year anniversary just now. I was making 5-10 cents/day in the beginning, now I'm getting $1.50-2.00/day with only 200 visitors per day - which has been the same steady number for the last half of this time period. It seems as though there's a bell curve for earnings - the older the site, the more gradual the earnings. I also think that banning Adwords cheaters helps a lot.
