Why do people center sales pitches ? Is there some sort of logical reason, is it just that marketers think it looks cool ? When I see a sales pitch and everything is centered, my gut feeling is that I'm either reading something written by a teenager that will lead to all sorts of hurdles due to them being under age, or that I'm going to get ripped off plain and simple. I'm not sure why I think that. The best I can come up with is that maybe my brain doesn't like having to do the extra work involved in tracking where the left edge of each sentence is going to randomly be, or, maybe whatever it is they're selling is so worthless that their conscience forces them to throw every gimmick there is into the sales copy just so they feel like they did some sort of work. I'm sure not everyone who centers their pitch is a child or out to rip people off. Maybe nobody who centers everything is, who knows. Surely there's a reasonable explanation.
For me, most of the templates provided to me for use to promote my business were all centered and I just never thought to move them. I just figured they gave them to me that way for a reason, and when I tried creating my own stuff I just took their lead.
Some people have 24 inches screens, and a website made for a 1024 pixels screen looks awfully bad on them if it sits on the left.
It is not just child work, many gurus are doing so. I am not sure but many of them just do because they provide a letter to read their visitors. many of such sites just provide content without any image. and maybe they think, they will catch more attention of readers.
I think we're on different pages here. If you're referring to how some websites have a fixed-width column that is centered on the page, I understand that and do it myself. It's when the text, images, etc included inside that centered column are also centered that I don't understand.
