Hi, was wondering why people buy traffic? Most of the traffic there is done through pop ups or some strange method... whatever it is, these seem like one-time opportunities where you see your traffic soar. The probability of those users coming back is low. I can't see any benefit in this so why do people buy traffic?
People generally buy their traffic to either increase the Alexa rank which in my opinion is a bullshit rank, try get more ad clicks (usually people end up getting banned from the program). Scammers tend to buy traffic to make it look like that their website has tons of traffic when infact its just a fraud. They're the general reasons. If I think of more, I'll be sure to pop some in. Good Luck, Ratchet.
Exactly, to increase ranking in alexa. Also the impression is given that this traffic will convert, so for most guys new to the game, the desire to make those first sales plays a big part.
Yeah, they hit it right on the head. Especially because most of the sites have low pr's so instead of selling links for Page Rank. They try to boost their traffic to sell links for more. Me, I'd rather by a link from a site with PR1 with 100-200 TRUE unique visitors per day. Rather buy it from a site with a PR0 or PR1 with over 1500 unique/day. To me that just doesn't add up.
I wouldn't buy any of it except if you're planning on selling the website. You can make it look like you're getting huge amounts of traffic when it's all paid traffic. Pathetic really... Because as soon as the new buyer finds out, PayPal disputes, abuses on the forums, harassing other e-mail, IM, arrrggh!!
alexa ranking is worthless yes, but regarding the selling traffic it depends where the traffic comes from and the traffic might lead to sales or something else.
People might be buying traffic to help soar their sagging traffic stats...which in turn would help them realize good price for such website sale! Regards, RightMan
Because I know what kind of traffic to buy Usually after buying traffic I earn 2x than I spend. + I test If it's worth spending time and effort of doing SEO of that site. So please stop calling me stuped, because I probably know way more than you do.
I have been looking into this myself and I don't see any gain in it for me. Maybe I'm missing the point.
Big difference between buying PPC traffic and just paying someone $20 for 10,000 "hits" Purchasing bulk traffic like that (when you don't know where it comes from) is always a waste of money (unless you're trying to scam others by pretending your site gets lots of traffic so you can inflate the sales price).
It's all about conversion. If there is an offer that converts at 2% then any type of crowd would be good. that is why people buy links. Also this helps hugely when the site is to be flipped for profits
I would say the vast majority are dissapointed in what they are doing using other methods. They want an immediate result but quickly find out that they have just been scammed. I've never heard of anyone being satisfied with the results of buying traffic. The primary reason is because it is either A) Untargetted Traffic or B) Not even real people, sometimes a mixture of both.
Personally, Ive been sucked into a few different types of traffic schemes. One being this Pop-Under Stuff don't exactly know how it works, but I believe it's something that is generated by websites that users are visiting. The user doesn't even know that the site is there, until they close the browser they were using. Then I would assume 99.99999% of them just close the window that popped-under. Thus this just creates a bounce for your site. Kind of useless traffic in my opinion. I have a theory, not stating a fact. But I think it's quite possible that some of these big traffic selling companies are partnered up with Alexa ( in other words pay them) so that the traffic they generate for their clients somehow work their way into that paticular sites Alexa ranking. Just a theory!!
Even though I know the traffic is low quality, I've always been tempted by the idea of making a ton of sales and getting thousands of visitors for just a few bucks! I think I'll try it one day soon just for the hell of it.
Another reason would be purchasing hits to their affiliate links if they are using certain blackhat tactics. This gives them more natural looking statistics and puts them at less risk of being pressurized by their affiliate manager.
Except: - That traffic never converts. Trust me, bulk traffic is 100% crap. If the traffic had any real value, the person selling the traffic would monetize it himself. - People buy links to help with SEO, the traffic they generate directly is usually minimal - Using paid traffic to inflate sales prices is totally unethical and borderline illegal, depending on the sale agreement
