Why do people buy new cars when they lose like 4000 as soon as you leave the lot?

I have seen a bunch of used cars in like new condition for so much cheaper than new. Why do people buy new cars? I guess I am a cheapy or rather I am just smart enough to realize what I would lose if I bought new.

 

I personally do not want to sit behind the wheel of something that has been driven 20,000 miles. Who knows where the car has been or what the previous owner has done to it. I want my automobile coming straight from the plant. Also, I like to customize the interior and add a few features, which is usually difficult to find in a used car.

 

Because they are idiots.

 

if nobody ever bought new cars then we would all be driving round in the ford T1 or whatever it was called

 

if you can afford a new car and not just afford the monthly payments, then great. Other than that, it's really a smart thing to do to buy a used car versus a new car. Especially when you buy it CASH and not lease it

 

you think loosing 4000 is stupid, what about Ferrari's, Maserati's etc. When they drive out of the lot they loose 50,000-100,000+

 

Just to be the first one. And have zero miles.

 

Because I do not want someone else's headaches.

this is exactly what a friend of mine told me when I said I want to buy a new car He convinced me that nowadays a used one it's the best option

 

Old cars are cheap, new cars are pround of man/woman.
I guess they just have much money and don't care the price at all.

Because new is new, and many people really like the “smell” of new car. If they can afford it, of course.

 

It is a means of class. People driving nice new cars show $. Some people just like to show their $, or just have a really super awesome fast car.

Either way. It's a means of class and standards for some.

 

If you can afford a new car, why not. Buy a used car is crap shoot.

 

it's not about the lose of money why do people pay for a new mobile when they can get a used one. If you buy a new car you can be sure there is nothing wrong with it and if there should be something wrong the dealer will have to fix it not you.

It depends who drove the used car as well, if its a woman or old lady, then its a goldmine with low mileage)) Sometimes it can be a-used-in-all-holes-car, then its not worth buying it. Also if you can spot if the car had accidents/was painted or not is a big plus to you. Although, Ive heard some car dealers also selling painted cars (sometimes the cars get damaged when transporting, rare cases), that is awful.

 

Perhaps you should look up the word "investment." Very few cars fall under that category.
