You have Pagerank, you just can't see it yet. The visual Pagerank you see in the toolbar and with Pagerank check scripts is only updated every 3 to 5 months. Behind the scenes your Pagerank value is changing daily, assuming you are gaining new backlinks everyday. The main goal is to build backlinks if you want to increase your Pagerank value. Remember, Pagerank value is for web pages, not the entire website. After the update some pages might be PR3 while others are PR1 or have no value at all.

Or maybe you just don't have enough backlinks, or very poor backlinks, or even backlinks that are all nofollow? Give it time ;)

    Well that sucks.
Here, focus on this: don't care about pagerank

Don't pay so much attention to PageRank. It is not that important anyway.

...unless you care about ranking higher in the search engine results, per Google (©2008 Google) — http://www.google.com/corporate/tech.html

"Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results."

When Google publishes something denying this clear statement of theirs, then I'll embrace the "PR is useless" chant voiced by so many DP posters. Until then I'll continue to strive for "the top of the search results." And Google states clearly that PageRank makes it "more likely" that the SERPs will be higher. I remain amazed that this clear, simple statement is so often ignored or denied by webmasters.
