Since conversion is common within all religions...
The question you should be asking is why Muslims should not convert back or change their faith, if they would like, without having a bounty on their head ?

    Dear Brother.
Please look at the recent fatwa that the infidels have issued.
This is another step in their endless war against the words of allah and his messenger Mohamed (PBUH)
    http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/uk_news/10349564.stm

How should we, the peaceful people of the world, respond to such an atrocious, inhuman measure which another immoral, degenerate and decadent western country have decided to take against our holy quran and our message to humanity?

    Just earlier today: http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/europe/10611398.stm
damn it! how come those infidels who are failing to see our moral superiority over their degrading culture?
They even................. have a widespread plague of divorce!

Well, not to play the role of Dear Abbey, but, there is quite a bit of footage rolling around the internet where Dr. Naik says everyone should be a terrorist. On a personal basis, I forgive Dr. Naik for such statements, as I realize he is only trying to promote his speaking engagements by being a bit inflammatory. Conversely, I can see how most westerners might take such a statements as promoting ethnic hatred and terrorism, and for that, I can appreciate and even respect the decision to deny him access to the UK.

I think most of my Muslim brothers would agree with me that the requirement for women to completely cover their faces is out dated. Obviously people wandering the streets with their face completely covered could facilitate all kinds of theft, robbery, and other heinous acts. No, I think we have to appreciate that the French are just looking to keep all their citizens safe, including Muslims.

Sounds like a line from a very *intelligent* atheist :)

    @OP

Your questions is poorly framed and your follow up comments are incendiary.

Sit down and rethink - maybe do a bit of Googleing.

Well, to be honest, there's nothing I can do much about it and DON'T use that word. That's just plain rude.

Grimm, that term does not appear to have been intended in a pejorative sense, and fwiw it is still in use in some technical circles where the "best" term to describe the race has long been a moving target that government docs have a hard time keeping up with.

In fact... the term appears on the 2010 census form as one of the choices for the question asking the resident's race. Why is it there? Because apparently 50,000 older Americans personally penned it in to describe their ethnic origin on the 2000 census.

It's just not necessary to act all offended when a non-pejorative term that may not be the most current appellation is used, and obviously not used with intent to provide anyone offense. Getting your panties all bunched up and proclaiming your distaste in this instance comes off as gratuitous.

Sorry but I'm not American so I wouldn't know how that term is being viewed in an American's point of view. I also mean no offense either, I was just taught not to call them that way. Peace! :)

Why do Muslims convert other people to Muslims

This thread does not seem to be going anywhere - maybe it is because the original question is either self explanatory or if the reason is not apparent there would be no need to attempt an answer.

Whoever would allow themselves to be directed by a book do seem the type that would want others to do the same.

    Merriam-Webster - Negro

    Main Entry: Ne·gro
    Pronunciation: 'ne-gro
    Function: noun
    Inflected Form(s): plural Negroes
Etymology: from Spanish Negro or Portuguese Negro "a person of a black race," derived from Latin nigr-, niger "black"
sometimes offensive : a member of a race of humankind native to Africa and classified according to physical features (as dark skin coloration)

Hard to believe the census would use the word Negro instead of African (African American) - going back to the Latin is what it suggests but from Webster the Latin is simply the word for a colour.

Cant confirm breezewood, but I'll bet it has both. Typically such questions are worded as what you *consider* yourself to be.

"African-American" isn't a preferred self-description with many blacks of the Tuskegee Airmen generation... who fought pretty darned hard to be considered *Americans* just like their white counterparts, and have no desire to be associated with a continent they've never even seen. While the pejorative term "nigger" has long carried a stigma, the term "negro" was for a considerable time the term considered correct, as it was the anthropology term for the race (or more correctly a segment that originated from a certain portion of Africa).

At one point the phrase "colored people" gained traction until folks started saying "Whaddaya mean *colored*, I'm black for God's sake". Then came afro-American, a somewhat 70s-ish name amended to African-American after the disco era closed shop.

There are still institutions using pretty much ALL of 'em except the one, depending on date of origin. We have...
    • Miss Black America Pageant
    • the American Negro College Fund
    • and the NAACP... an acronym for the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People.
There are pejorative terms for every race and nationality, wetbacks, kikes, crackers, wops, etc. Negro isnt one of those... it's more like do we call the guy with a heritage from Mexico "Mexican American" or "Hispanic". Depends on who you ask.

Found your answer Breeze... here's an article from the Pew Research Ctr that traces the changes in census trends on the question of race. See Race and the Census: The “Negro” Controversy.

The issue of race has evolved frequently on the form, and the current form includes self-description options of Black, Negro, and African-American. If it's controversial, it proves trying to please everyone doesnt always work. Pretty interesting article, worth a look.

I don't know, there aren't blacks in India but I live in the embassy area so there are a lot of embassies of African countries around and if you call someone a negro then you might have trouble with his 7 feet tall friends :p

I just saw this nasty remark, been away from DP as I was warded recently for a miscarriage and recovering. It seems that people are fond of making hate speech when their target is away elsewhere in the real life.

Being slandered with having so-called "owned" a porn web directory was bad enough (slander refuted here), but being accused of owning "an online porn empire" is definitely taking it a bit too far. Our company does own a small online network, but it certainly has nothing to do with porn (case in point: a, b, c, d,...etc.). As for the snide remark about bedroom tips, my husband does nothing more than to solicit romance-related articles from forums and post them on that blog in question. What is the problem with it? Its certainly not "porn", much less part of an "online porn empire".

This is coming from a small-time scammer and charlatan who is ripping off everyone on DP with his AdSense blackhat techniques. Touche!

Welcome back Awin. This place was getting boring without your hypocrisy to provide us all with laughter. Personally, I'd have a hard time popping back up in here after the ironclad evidence showing you both own and operate a pornography site. As an individual, I don't really care what you do with your time, though I dislike hypocrites. As a Muslim, I find your actions to be highly offensive. I hope other Muslims on this forum will join me saying we don't want people who peddle pornography wearing the name Muslim.

    Iron clad evidence says otherwise.

I'm thinking of a good name, how does Mohd Elfie Nieshaem Juferi sound? ;)

@Awin What nerve of you to make up lies and cheat and deceive your peaceful Muslim brothers! I am total agreement with Nasir Ul din. If your husband (porn king) improves his moral character and repents for his sins against fellow muslims then maybe allah will bless you in thy life and beyond.

I ask other Muslims (not you) would a true Islamic activities sell his soul and promote oral and anal sex using articles/vids made by others for a few bucks of change? Which Muslim can fall so low? Tsk. Tsk. Tsk. Disgusting.

I call on all Muslims to remove the Bismika avatar.

Its funny how you are suddenly labelling my husband a "porn king", do you have evidence of this so-called porn empire, apart from just a Dating niche blog? How about if we call you the pot calling the kettle black. Still trying to scam Google advertisers off their hard-earned money?
