Why do MMO bloggers rarely reveal their niche sites

Yes, I know this is a dumb question to the core, but I'd imagine there has to be a number of reasons, and I can only think of one.

You have guys like Griz, whose posts I've been reading for the past couple months, giving away all this great advice, but they never come out and show you with real examples of their money making sites.

I suspect it's mainly because they don't want to risk their high position in an under-utilized cash cow niche, but are there any other reasons?

Mostly because they don't want to share their niche, although when I publish SEO experiments on one of my blogs I don't list them as I don't want to dilute or affect the results.

Have you asked any of them?

Ya know, I haven't asked any of them...that may be a good blog post in itself. Regarding the skewing of results, that makes a lot of sense for experiments. Thanks for the input.

Because the readers of MMO blogs are competitors. If you reveal your niche, expect a lot of people to dive in. If you have a highly-profitable niche, then you don't want the secret out and competitors making it harder on you.
