Why do millionaires feel the urge to write ebooks on how to become rich? :)

Just curious. But if you made so much of stinking money that you did not need to work again for the rest of your life... why do you need to write an ebook, promote it heavily, even pimp your book by offering a 50% discount to those who order today? That smacks of desperation.

If they really were so rich they wouldn't be selling the book, they'd be giving it away. If they aren't really so rich then the whole premise of the sales pitch is a lie (i.e. I know how to become a millionaire because I've already done it) and every such book is obviously, blatantly, any-idiot-can-see-it, plainly a con.

Why then do people buy these books?

Why wouldn't they sell a book? It's another avenue of revenue, and if the earnings are backed up with real statistics and proof of earnings you can bet such pages would provide a good conversion rate, thus many affiliates would promote the book for you - free advertising, it costs you nothing, why not do it? :)

You don't have to give away all your 'secrets', just the basics leaving the more important stuff close to your chest.

The discounts and ordering today stuff is purely for a higher sales conversion.

It's all about money and earning more of it!

Think how little you would have to sell per day to create a massive income from writing and selling such books if affiliates have decided your page/book converts the best for them.

The thing with the internet and ebooks is is that everybody can write a book, or let someone else write a book for them and then just in a few clicks publish it. And they know that people really buy these books, because we "all" want to get rich, and as qucik and easy a s possible.

There are good ebooks out there written by successfull entrepreneurs, but a lot of them are as described above.

GADOOD, all that sounds like a lot of work. Writing the book itself, writing sales copy, A/B testing your sales pitch, getting affiliates etc etc all take time and money.

Why invest that time and risk that money if you are already so rich? Wouldn't you need that time to manage all your investments, organise the cleaning of your fleet of Porsches, fly to Monte Carlo for the weekend and then to Paris Hilton's birthday party in the Bahamas before coming back to the UK for Blair to kiss your ass - like he does to Silvio Burlesconi, Bernie Ecclestone and anybody else with money - and then drop into Stringfellows to get yourself a threesome?

Why bother spending that time writing an ebook and promoting it when there's a lot of fun stuff to do instead? My point is that maybe writing the ebook is what they are hoping will make them rich and no ebook writer is actually as stinking rich as they make out to be. One of them may even live in the council estate next door.

The logic is obvious. Which leaves me puzzled as to why people buy these books in the first place. If, as mihaidamianov suggests, it's because they are stupid then I'm left staggered and disappointed at the amount of stupidity in the world. Is there really that much around?

it is probably so in many cases, but you know nowadays you can get someone to write the book for you for a couple of 100 dollars, so I think that not to many books are written by the "writter" himself/herself

There are an awful lot of people connected to the net. Only a small percentage of them need to be gullible for this to work.

Well the fact is, that 100% of the world population isn't well familiar with the internet. Everyday thousands of aspiring individuals connect to the internet.
And many of them feel that the internet is a great place to make money.
The so called self proclaimed "millionaires" write these ebooks to fool such people.
They write such convincing, sales letters that it appears like almost you buy their ebook and the very next moment you'll be a millionaire!
Some of the biggies even ask you to make a site like they did and sell ebook, and thats their way to become a millionaire.
The Internet Illiterate Public, is amazed by this opportunity, they take loans, beg, borrow in order to buy these ebooks, only to find that they are doomed!
    That's the whole story,
Not anything personal, but the so called famous ebook "The Rich jerk" is actually a company based in Canada :) and therichjerk.com is a complete successful online business.
Similarly, many others follow the same path and make you millionaires for 70$
    That's the story behind it.

I'm sure it doesn't take more then a week to knock out one of these books - many in here could do it in less then a week and cover the basics.

There are great sales copy writers available on elance for around $1,000-$2,000. All you need to do is find the ones that are willing to work and tweak the page until it's converting well enough.

It's not a great deal of work or risk in my opinion - all you need is a unique angle and package that's attractive to affiliates.

Personally being 'rich' wouldn't be enough for me. There's a certain challenge and buzz about creating/developing a successful product.

I may create one of these books in the future just for the sake of it, out of my own interest - but obviously for the money, too.

I'm sure the fella(s) behind 'The Rich Jerk' are sitting in a more stable position then relying on search engine traffic of PPC directly.

There are alsorts of reasons really I suppose.

Flying around the world and spending money would get boring pretty quickly too! :)

    Excellent comments.

    My views.

They do this because I think all that write that kind of books are beggars. They don't have any money. They don;t have any talents like us (Webmasters) So what do they do with the time. They write foolish books and try to teach us how to earn and in end no one earns but they themselves earn 1000's of $$$'s.

I never fall for this kind of schemes. And If reading a millionaire book can make us rich then everyone would have been reading this kind of books instead of going to schools and colledges. Why to be a doctor or engineer when we can earn millions :D. ha aahha.

If your book is successfull and making six figures a year and all you have to do is sit back and take the money because you have tons of affiliates making the sales im sure any millionaire would be happy to do this.
Also foggy you think once someone is a millionaire they just retire, some maybe but most dont, most will try to turn that million into ten million that ten into twenty etc. Kinda like you see someone making $10/day from adsense saying by next year hopefully i will make $100/day, you think its any different for a millionaire? A successfull ebook is no different then anything else if it sells well and makes alot of profit it doesnt matter what it is.
Stop hating and go do lol.

We write many ebooks for clients. There are many reasons why successful people want to share their experiences and tips. For some, it's an extra revenue stream, for others it's a way of helping people help themselves.

Plus, if I was going to buy an ebook on moneymaking, I would want it to be by someone who has made a lot of money, so they have an incentive to exagerate their earnings.

I don't buy the altruistic model. If they really wanted to help why are they charging money? Give it away or charge a nominal $1 to cover costs!

Anyone smart enough to turn a million into ten million will know there are much better ways of doing it than writing an ebook. I think. :) It's not a walk in the park to make $9,000,000 by writing an ebook.

I'm er, comfortably off and don't need to work but I'm not writing an ebook on how to get rich for several reasons

    1) What works for me won't necessarily work for you - each should capitalise on his own skills and strengths to find the route that works best for him

    2) It's a waste of time. The amount of time I'd spend finding, supervising and talking to a ghost writer (or writing myself) + promoting/finding affiliates etc would not be the most profitable way of spending my time. I'd make more money doing other things.

Fortunately writing/selling a 'get rich' eBook, like any business that requires very little skill, is not going to get you very far for very long. The market became flooded a long time ago and the window for profit shrank to next to nothing as soon as the 1000++th ebook was published.

Also how many people are stupid enough to spend dollars plugging affiliate 'get rich' ebooks with Adwords etc? the conversion rates are tiny, and adword-like marketing is pretty expensive if you want to ramp up beyond a small time player and dominate, then it just becomes pointless. So there is only so far you can take it.

the whole 'get rich' eBook market is hardly the most glamourous end of the market by far. Its not likely that one would stand up and be proud of it.... or am I wrong.
