I have been trying to add a site map to my blog and asked a couple of webmasters to add it to my site, but it has been a challenge. I was wondering why it's taking them so long to figure it out and why they haven't manage to do it? Adding a sitemap? is it really a brain storming task to do? I Wonder! And also is it necessary to have one?
Sitemaps help search engines crawl your website and make sure they spider all of your pages. Are you using a CMS like wordpress etc for your blog? If so, its generally about a 5-10 minute job to add a sitemap and there is no brainstorming whatsoever involved...
CMS = Content Management Systems. Wordpress is a CMS based system. Not sure if you can built the sitemap for Wordpress based site. Any input on it?
Just install a WordPress sitemap plugin. Or if that does not work for some reason try a sitemap generator program (e.g. A1 Sitemap Generator but everyone has their own favourite I suppose)
I installed wordpress sitemap generator, uploaded my sitemap to google webmaster's tool, and after an hour, the number of site index was reduce by two. there used to be 16 pages indexed on my blog, that was a week ago, and now there are only 14. what happened with the rest?
