Thx, so do you think it is smart to build niche sites as subdomains of old domain?

Only if they are relative to the 'perceived' genre of the domain, else it would be the same as a brand new domain. So if the domain is about cars and the sub domain is about car parts/mods etc then yes.

If you tried something competitive like car insurance/loans then it may not be so effective but may depend on the sub-domains backlinks, if you tried to make a sub domain about fishing then I would expect zero benefit.

Hm... domain is about nothing :), parked for now, old domain (year 2000), PR3, domain name don't mean nothing speacial...

And I plan to build some niche sites with diferent topics as subdomains. Hope old domain will also help.

    Archive.org history/old backlinks?
That's the value in an old domain for me anyway, a 10 year old domain that has no history in google has no extra value to me. You want an old domain with maybe yahoo/dmoz + relative links that are still there and the domain has never expired. Then your good to go.

History is at archive.org from year 2001 (march) till 2005 (march)... at msn there are 120 backlinks, at google only 4. I think domain has never expired.

You think it is worth to try? Domain name mean nothing. 6 chars.

I completely agree! As for everyone else, just think of it this way: old websites that are still up and running mean that they have established themselves a 'living' reputation aka the longer they live the more trusted they are. This is because search engines read a website's date of creation and consider it when they process the value of the domain.
