Why do Blogspot blogs have such high PR?

    I mean c'mon.....

Ive been looking at a dozen or so PR6 blogs today on blogspot, none of which have many backlinks, or pages registered, or even good content.

yet .blogspot.com and .wordpress.org get such high pageranks with minimal effort.

Guess I should have been blogging on their servers instead of mine!!

    anyone else noticed the same?

    MOG.

Have not experienced that in blogspot, but I would agree with the wordpress reasoning. Had a few blogs which I did little work on and they are all PR3 after one Google updates. Compared to the rest which were PR 0 (which I did a lot of work) those wordpress blogs seemed to be able to get their PR ranking extremely easily.

no it doesnt.... subdomain PR's are F all to do with other subdomains.

by your rationalle all free hosting websites would have the same PR if they were subdomain based, which they dont.

I don't think google gives any advantage to blogspot in real terms. Yes wordpress.com blogs are highly seo optimised if you choose the right tags ;)

Maybe I hit upon the right tags by accident :) but my wordpress seemed to be doing extremely well no matter what topic......the PR is still 3, waiting for the next Google update to see if it gets better, but frankly well pleased with 3 given the minimal amount of efforts I had put in.

I agree in principal with the wordpress one, the other aspect I guess is the domains are all well aged... but Im sure that blogspot PRs are inflated in a heck of a lot of cases.

perhaps its google giving its own hosted pages preference ;)

I think this all depends on how well the blog is optimized and the number of quality backlinks it is getting on.

I'll agree with wordpress that it gets high PR because of wordpress itself is highly optimized. But blogspot?.. Many blogspot blogs I've seen don't have high rankings (maybe we have different niches. :) ). Generally, when it comes to blogspot blogs, I agree with bobchrist that it depends more on how you optimize your blog.

Blogspot's main domain has PR, thus it's kinda passed to subdomains too.

I think its all about visiting and voting.
In blogs, content are updated all the time and simultaneously increase the visitors and Rank too.

I saw this bloggers blog with a pagerank 9.
I was surprised. I had only 3 or 4 pages and no adsense.
    filled with forex links.
and it was not updated at all with fresh content.

    bloggers get first priority.

visitors is nothing to do with pagerank. pagerank is all about the age/incoming links/fresh content of pages,

my argument is that blogspot and wordpress subdomains, get higher pageranks than is warranteable for their content and incoming links.

ofcourse the TLDs are very well aged, and have a high incoming link domain figure, but that "shouldnt" influence the subdomains.

its just an anomoly of the current google algo.
