I went to the bank today and something told me those idiots wouldn't be open. I tried to call beforehand, but the number was busy. When I got to the door it had a sign which said it would be closed for New Years on Jan 2. I though New Years day was on the first only! Why is it the banks get every holiday off!? The only thing they do is sit on their asses and take people's money and earn interest off it for themselves with a pathetic fractional reserve banking system! pieces of trash........
I guess they can afford to Seriously, i know what you mean, at this point in the new year they should be open for the account owners. Maybe you should considder another Bank that is open when you need them to be.
Edz you have a good point. These guys think they can do whatever the want because like SBC, they think they own the world. I may consider switching to a credit union.
But you went anyway... in spite of the fact that most businesses close on the Monday following Christmas Day or New Years Day when those occur on a weekend and always have? Who is the idiot? I hate to burst your bubble but they're closed today too...
Yeah, screw banks...and post office employees, city workers, students, teachers and everyone else who gets holidays off. Greedy bastards!
You have a point but what about all the other businesses that are open today? What does the bank do that makes them so important? Why doesn't everyone get the day off like Christmas? You sum it all up very well.
Uh... how do I say this tactfully? No one posted what you quoted there, Tesla... you were the only one who saw or heard that
I made a mistake. I must of quoted something from another thread. Nintendo you have a good point I didn't consider.
Only retail places are open today. Most other businesses have the day off. Nobody I know is working today. <-- those F'n greedy pieces of trash!
I took the day off. I deserve 3 days off a year (thanksgiving, christmas day and day after new years - football dammit).
A few reasons. First off, when a federal holiday such as Christmas / New Year falls on a weekend, the president usually issues an executive order making one or more weekdays before or after a federally recognized (mandated) holiday. This leads to the second point - when it's a federal holiday like that, markets, federal reserves and other institutions are closed ... so banks follow suit. Of course, there's a few other reasons to be considered. Bankers, even with all of that money around them, are cheap - if it's a federally mandated / recognized holiday, to be open to appease a few customers would be at great expense with time and one-half atop of holiday pay, etc. Also, maybe they celebrate too ... need recouperation?
My brother didn't get his paycheck cus of the bank holiday yesterday..what was so bad he had to let his co-workers used his gas credit card so that way they could get home........Another way for the Banks to stick it to the little guys, huh?
The only problem is that: a) many people live paycheck to paycheck b) checks are the standard form of payment What happens when you're a worker that gets paid and doesn't get off work until after the banks are closed for the holiday weekend? You have 3-4 days where you're completely broke with a check you can't cash.
Here's your answer... http://www.answers.com/topic/bank-holiday Don't blame the banks, blame the government!!
