Why Do Adsense Users Get So Excited Over the "One High Paying Click" Event?

I swear that the Digital Point servers must be clogged with about 50,000 threads that start with "OMG I just got one click for $3.87..I'm Rich"

Ok, well that's fine and dandy. You got one big click. Try not to spend it all in one place, but do you really need to create another thread to tell the world about one click?

Instead of wasting your time posting that thread, maybe you should be analyzing exactly how you got that lone click and figure out a way to take advantage of it. Find out what the keyword was? Is your site optimized for that keyword or was it just a fluke? Can you do some on and off page SEO to help get your site to rank better for that higher paying keyword?

99% of the people who post "Wow,I just got a $3.00 click", will never see another one that big. It happens once and a while. Now stop wasting your time and figure out how to get several hundred $.35 clicks.

Thank god someones finally talking sense, I must see around 10 of these threads daily, Anyone can get 1 click its about getting hundreds daily that matters. You will notice that DP members who dont go around saying how much they make are the ones who make the most!

They think that they are very lucky to get that much... :p
But they don't know that there are people who earn more than them.

People that only build a site around a high paying keyword because they think they'll get rich are destined to FAIL. It's the newbies that do this, and once they realize that they have no actual knowledge of the niche topic, they can't sustain the site and it fizzles away, earning next to nothing. I tried this when I was green to the game..and I failed miserably.

Make sites about what you know...not what pays the most. Become and expert in something and then monetize it. You'll do far better in the long run than hoping for the occasional High Paying Click.

Very well put. Why waste your time and mine on omg I got a such and such click I made this much why not to those who do post that find out why it happened and try to repeat it in stead of wasting time to post it. During the time you post it read the threads about it you may have found out why by researching it.

    christian231,

If your goal is to make $3 a day from 100 minisites, isn't $3.00 a click once a day good? Or do you not believe in mini sites?

    I'm a n3wb, so go easy on me. :)

I like that idea, and you always hear that question...lots of sites with small earnings or one big earner? I've yet to see someone with 100 mini sites that each earn 3 bucks a day. I'd rather have 10 sites that earn $30 a day...much easier to manage.

My experience is that clicks on new websites usually start at the top of the paying scale. The first clicks pay very well, but with time the prices that Adsense pays you go down according to the relevance and the results of the click for advertisers.

I have to agree. I feel a sense of pity towards them because it probably won't last.

People just get excited and want to share. Problem is, there are just too many of these posts. Perhaps there should be a dedicated post for the "OMG I just got a xx click" posts as well as one for the "I just made xx today!" posts and the "How can I make more money from adsense" posts too...

If you walked across a street and found a $20 bill you would probably tell a couple people. "Guess what I found crossing the street" same thing with clicks that are way above their average. People just want to tell others.

Humans are a funny lot. We like to discern patterns from random streams of data. A one time event, like a sweet $20 one-time click, is something the brain tries to extrapolate out into a trend. Especially when we are talking about money.

Yeah that's true. But I sure wouldn't think that I was going to walk across the street every day and find $20 each time.

So some balance is necessary. I like that advice - don't put all your eggs in one basket, but don't spread yourself so thin you get tired.
