I am waiting to add my site last 5 months. look like there is no editor for this small country category Regional: Asia: Sri Lanka: Business and Economy: Real Estate . I try to become a editor but it was rejected. Please any body can advice me why I am not listing. My site is http://www.rentlanka.com/ and submited only one time.

Five months? There are many sites that have gone years without a review from DMOZ. My advice to you: get over it, forget about DMOZ, and move on with your life. There is abosolutely nothing you can do.

Let me ask you this question. Why is being listed in DMOZ soooooo important to you, hmmm?

DMOZ *will* give your site a PR boost *if* you are accepted. It is extremely rare, and people here will be the first to say that DMOZ needs an overhaul.

You definitely don't need DMOZ to get some PR. You really need to just move on. If you are pinning all your hopes of PR or traffic or sales or whatever on a listing in DMOZ, then you will be very disappointed.

I've submitted sites to DMOZ and had them listed within the same month, other sites never make it in. I'm also an editor at a category.

The truth is that it's all up to some guy editing a category on his spare time, if he thinks your site isn't worth it there isn't much you can do.

If you submitted your site and there is no editor, someone else above may be covering, perhaps a meta editor. It could also be that your submission did not follow guidelines. We edit in our free time and it is much easier to approve a well prepared submission rather than spending a lot of time correcting mistakes made by not reading instructions.

It is not rare to be accepted. My directories are all green and every site is looked at, approved, deleted or bounced to another queue if necessary. Being in DMOZ is not a right but a privilege, just like having a driver's license. I am sorry some are left without a listing because of no fault of their own. There are so many directories and we are all volunteers.

Not at all, and this is even less the case now than it was a few years ago. The boost from being in Dmoz isn't all that significant at all, and it's definitely possible to get a good PR without a Dmoz link. What's more, you don't have to wait around forever to do so. Just submit to other directories, use forum signatures, articles, etc, and if you're really in a hurry then buy some links.
